Yeongchuksan Mountain(영축산)

Located in the Gajisan Provincial Park, Yeongchuksan Mountain has an elevation of 1,059 meters. The name of the mountain “Yeongchuk” is known to have originated from the name of a mountain in the ancient kingdom of Magadha in central India. The mountain is also called Chwiseosan and has such beautiful scenery that it is often referred to as the Alps of Yeongnam. The broad valley that extends at the foot of Yeongchuksan Mountain provides a great walk to the hermitages scattered around the famous Tongdosa Temple. Yeongchuksan Mountain is considered the best of the eight beautiful places in Yangsan City. The other seven places are Cheonseogsan Mountain, Naewonsa Valley, Hongryong Falls, Baenaegol Valley, Cheontaesan Mountain, Imgyeongdae Terrace on Obongsan Mountain, and Tapgol Recreational Forest on Daeunsan Mountain.

Masan Dotseom Marine Park (돝섬해상유원지)

Dotseom (돝섬) is an island 10 minutes off Masan Port. ‘Dot’ is an ancient name for pigs after which the island was named because its shape resembles that of a reclining pig. Gagopa Land is an amusement park located on Dotseom Island accessible by frequent ferry services that connect the island and Masan Port. Gagopa Land includes amusement facilities, restaurants and paths for walkers. On the island’s peak there is a 2000 m² wooden-floor observation deck where you can enjoy the sea view. House of Lee Young-choon (이영춘가옥)

The House of Lee Young-choon was constructed by a Japanese landlord named Kumamoto during the Japanese colonial era. The house combines Western, Korean, and Japanese combined into one structure. After Korean liberation, Dr. Lee Young-choon, the first medical doctor, lived in the house. From that time, the house was referred as the House of Lee Young-choon. Thanks to its beautiful exterior, the house was used as a backdrop for films such as Bingjeom, Sandglass, and Yain Shidae, etc. The doctor was considered the Korean "Albert Schweitzer", and his pen name of "Ho", referring to ssangcheon, means "two branches of spring water, represents one for healing physical disease and the other for healing the spirit. He was born in Yonggang-gun, Pyeongannam-do in October 1903. In 1935, through a connection by his professor at Pyeongyanggobo Schoo, he took a position as the head of Jahye Hospital to take care of 20,000 people. In addition, he was the first person in Korea to implement the policy of school nurses as well as the medical insurance union.

Samsa Marine Park (삼사해상공원)

Samsa Marine Park is located south of Gangguhang Port, overlooking the expansive East Sea. There is even an artificial waterfall and a 20 ton-rock carved with floral patterns that add an extra element of unique beauty. In the park you can see a great bell called Gyeongbuk Daejong, which was made to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the province. Another must-see sight for visitors to Gyeongsangbuk-do is Manghyangtap Pagoda, which was set up by those originally from North Korea. Every year on New Year’s Eve, a bell ringing ceremony takes place during the area’s sunrise festival as those separated from their families wish for reunification.
