Jeollabuk-do(Namwon-si)

Also known as Gwangtongnu, Gwanghalluwon Garden was originally built by Hwanghee Jeongseung in 1419 during the reign of Joseon Dynasty’s King Sejong. Because of its surreal beauty, Governor Jeong In-ji gave the garden the name ‘Gwanghallu’ in 1444, comparing it to a palace on the moon. It is famous as the location where Lee Mong-ryong and Chunhyang (two lovers from a well-known Korean folk story) first met. In the 1920’s Chunhyangsa Temple was established in the neighboring area and a portrait of Chunhyang was hung in a place of honor. On May 5th of every year, the garden is the venue of the Chunhyangjae Festival, celebrating the deep and lasting love of the famous couple.Namwon City, where the garden is located, contains many historical relics such as the Maninuichong Tomb, Gwanghallu, Ojak Bridge, Gyorongsanseong Fortress, Hwangsan Great Battle Monument Site, and Silsangsa Temple, as well as tourist courses such as the Namwon Tourist Site, Susang Amusement Park, Chunhyang Theme Park, Music Fountain, and Jirisan National Park.


Gangwon-do(Gangneung-si)

The Ojukheon House (오죽헌) gets its name from the many black bamboo trees that surround it. It was here where Sinsaimdang (1504~1551) lived and where his son Yulgok (scholar and politician of the Joseon Period) was born. It was built during the time of the 11th King of Joseon, King Jungjong (1506~1544), and remains one of the oldest wooden residential buildings in Korea. It was designated as Treasure No. 165 in 1963 and has been maintained by the descendants throughout the generations.Inside Ojukheon there's the Yulgok Memorial Hall, Mongryongsil, where Yulgok was born, the household shrine called Munseongsa, and the entrances called Jagyeongmun, Sajumun etc. There is also Eojaegak, which was built to preserve the inkstone and Gyeokmongyogyeol (a book written by Lee-Lee in 1577 for those beginning their studies), mementos of Lee-Lee.Beside Ojukheon, there is the Gangneung Municipal Museum where you can see relics from the prehistoric age and other various historical materials from different time periods.


Seoul(Jongno-gu)

인정문은 인정전의 정문으로 태종5년(1405) 창건한 것이나 임진왜란때 소실되어 광해군 원년(1608)겨 재건하였다. 영조20년(1744) 10월 승정원 화재때 좌우 행각과 함께 소실되어 이듬해 3월에 재건하였다. 순조3년(1803) 12월에 선정전 서행각에서 화재가 나 인정전 등이 소실되매 이듬해 12월에 개건하였는데 이문도 그때 재건된 것으로 여겨진다. 다포계양식, 팔작지붕의 평삼문형으로 가구수범에서 조선후기의 특징이 나타나 있다. 1910년에 일제에 의해 주위건물과 함께 일부변형 되었다. 현재 외벽을 만들고 앞뒤에 문을 달았으나 원래는 중앙 고주사이에 문을 달았던 것으로 추정된다. 3급으로 쌓은 석조기단 위에 초석을 놓고 원주(圓柱)를 세웠으며 기둥 윗몸에 창방(昌枋)과 평방(平枋)을 짜 돌려 공포(慊包)를 받았다. 공포는 외2출목, 내2출목, 짜임은 삼제공이 중첩하는 형상이고 도리받침부재는 운형(雲形)으로 깎았다. 외부의 평방과 창방은 중앙 평주(平柱) 위에서만 초각물(草刻物)을 삽입하여 놓았으며 내부는 이제공(二提慊)까지는 직절(直絶)한 첨차 끝이 되었으며 그 위는 운궁(雲宮)처럼 되어 도리까지 나가 보 아래에서 보아지가 되었다. 천장은 연등천장이고 처마는겹처마이며 단청은 반초머리의 모루단청이다. 인정문 좌우 행각과 인정전의 문비(門扉)는 일제 때에 왜식(倭式)이 가미되어 변형된 부분이 많다. 인정문에서는 역대의 많은 왕들의 즉위가 있었는데 효종 · 현종 · 숙종 · 영조 등이 이 곳에서 즉위하였다.


Chungcheongnam-do(Asan-si)

Particularly popular is the outdoor event spa, which is run with seasonal themes: in winter, special spas of Acanthopanax, ginger, and mandarin orange peel are open for enjoyment. Those visiting over the weekend can also participate in kimchi-making, persimmon-picking, and farm life programs. A spa visit can also be combined with a trip to one of the many nearby tourist attractions such as Hyeonchungam Temple, Oeamni Folk Village, Onyang Folk Museum, Sinjeongho Lake, and the Maeng Sa-seong House.


Seoul(Nowon-gu)

Korea Military Academy is a place of strict rules, patriotism, and military cadets. It was extremely difficult for outsiders to visit the academy until 1997, when a special tourism course was created. The course showcases the major sites at Korea Military Academy. Starting from the school information center, visitors can see the museum, memorial hall, and exhibition center in a 1.5 hour course. The Military Museum displays treasures and materials from each branch of the military, while visitors can see the history of the military and lifestyle of cadets at the memorial hall. However, the highlight of a trip to Korea Military Academy is watching the Hwarang Ceremony, a parade of cadets which takes place every Saturday at 11:30. In the ceremony, cadets don their formal uniform to march. Touring the academy at 10 is perfect for watching the parade later.


Jeju-do(Jeju-si) , TheWestern Part of the Jeju Island

Hyeopjae Beach (협재해수욕장) is located on the west side of Hanrim-eup, and is part of Hanrim Park. The beautiful white color of the sand comes from the large amounts of crushed seashells that have been mixed in with the sand. The long seashore stretches for 9 km and has cobalt colored seawater and evergreen forests scattered around the vicinity, making the scenery very beautiful. Just off the beach is Biyangdo Island. The white sandy beach is about 20 meters long, and the water is 1.2 meters deep with no sudden drops. In the evergreen groves, there are plenty of convenient facilities and campgrounds for visitors to use.Hanrim Park nearby, provides interesting tour sites such as a subtropical arboretum, Hyeopjaegul Cave, and Ssangyonggul Cave. The seashore to the southwest of Hyeopjae Beach connects to another beach called Geumreung Beach, and both beaches combined are also called Hyeopjae Beach. From any beach on Jejudo Island, you can always see Mt. Hallasan. It is a great place for a relaxing family vacation. 


Gangwon-do(Pyeongchang-gun)

Located on the highlands of Pyeongchang County where the 2018 Winter Olympics will be held, Uiyaji Baram Maeul (Uiyaji Wind Village) is a mountain village situated on top of Daegwallyeong. At Uiyaji Wind Village, one can enjoy various types of activities such as making cheese or ice cream as well as enjoying the beautiful sight of wind-mills standing high above the frozen plain. Also, visitors can try various food including memil-mandu (buckwheat dumpling), ongsimi-kalguksu (handmade knife-cut noodles with sweet rice dough soup), gamja-jeon (potatoes pancakes), memil-kalguksu (buckwheat knife-cue noodles), sanchae-bibimbap (seasoned wild vegetables bibimbap), and more.


Seoul(Jongno-gu) , Seoul City Hall・Gwanghwamun

Gangwon-do(Gangneung-si)

Seongyojang is the former upper class residence of the Naebeon Lee (1703-1781) noble family of Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do Province. It was designated Important Folklore Material No. 5 in 1967. The meaning of "Seon", in Seongyojang, is boat. Gyeongpo Lake was directly in front of Seongyojang at the time it was built, thus making is accessible by boat. Gyeongpo Lake at one time reached the enormous circumference of 12km. Its size has reduced by 4km over the years and its depth has decreased by 1-2 meters.It is said that 10 generations of descendents of Naebeon Lee have continued to live at Seongyojang. KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) has selected this residency as one of the top 10 most well preserved original dwellings in Korea that was constructed over the past 300 years.Yeolhwadang is considered the most important structure on the property, as the male owner of the property resided in this building. This structure was given the name "Yeolhwadang" in order to promote happiness and joy among the relatives living there. Presently one can see a terrace that was added on courtesy of Russia.Another important structure here is the picturesque Hwallaejeong. This structure was built in 1816 and is located just inside the main entrance. The lotus flower filled pond just in front of this building makes for a setting just as one might see in a traditional Korean painting.


Jeju-do(Jeju-si) , TheWestern Part of the Jeju Island

Bunjae Artpia first opened its doors at Jeju’s Bunjae Artpia in July of 1992, and is now the world’s largest botanical garden with a total landscape of approximately 39,700m². This garden is rich with maple trees, wisterias and pine trees that are between 30 to 300 years old. Roughly 100 rare species of trees can also be found in the garden. The garden possesses approximately 1,700 trees, and also boasts 100,000 of its Jeju wild flowers, orchids, and other various garden trees and plants which collectively form a unique scenic harmony, Bunjae Artpia is visited by approximately 300,000 people annually, and remains a popular tour site for world public figures such as China’s Head of State Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao, Japan’s former Prime Minister Nakasone, and more.The rich variety of trees planted on the 39,700m² landscape represents 700 years of Korea’s botanical history. The 100-year-old indigenous Jeju Hwangpi elm tree and a 300-year-old yew tree are the main highlights of Bunjae Artpia. Jeju’s characteristic stonewalls and ponds along with stone bridges, and artificial waterfalls all add beautifully to the richness of Bunjae Artpia’s scenery.Subsidiary facilities include a large Korean restaurant, Yooyeon, which seats 202 persons and overlooks Bunjae Artpia. The restaurant is opened all year round from 11AM – 2PM, and offers a lunch buffet. The menu includes Jeju’s specialties such as braised mackerels (godeungeo-jorim), spicy pan-fried pork and vegetables (jeyuk-bokkeum), and numerous side dishes.
