Haemi Eupseong Traditional Cultural Performance is held every year at Haemi Eupseong, a representative fortress of the Joseon Dynasty, which was selected as one of the "100 tourist spots the Korean people must go" in 2015 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. One of Korea's best performances, this event presents a variety of spectacles to domestic and foreign tourists. The event consists of a series of Korean traditional performances which might be unfamiliar but certainly interesting to the contemporary people. The historical importance of the fortress adds value and meaning to the event.

Take a bus from Central City Bus Terminal or Nambu Bus Terminal to Seosan Bus Terminal.
- From Seosan Bus Terminal take Bus No. 510, 511, or 150 heading to the Air Force Base (공군부대) and get off at Haemi Terminal Bus Stop.
- From the bus stop, walk back to the intersection and turn right. The fortress will be ahead on your left (about 300m from the bus stop).

- Spinning hat dance: Dance of spinning and flipping a hat attached with a long streamer

- Traditional martial arts: Martial arts of soldiers in the Joseon Dynasty including actions with bare hands, long spears, swords, and moon blades
- Acrobatic skills on horseback: Dynamic stunts showing actions with spears and swords on horseback
- Tightrope-walking: A performing art accompanied by music and witty dialogue between the tightrope walker and an earthbound clown

Haemi Eupseong Traditional Cultural Performance is an opportunity where you can enjoy Korea's representative traditional entertainments. The event, held every Saturday from April to October, includes various popular performances such as playing buks (traditional drums), cheerful pungmulnori (a performance of a percussion band), spinning hat dance, beona (spinning plates), martial arts, acrobatic skills on horseback, and walking on a tight rope. Also prepared are various experience programs where the audience can wear traditional costumes, practice archery, and play tuho (throwing arrows) game.

Synopsis

Haemi Eupseong Traditional Cultural Performance is a regular event presenting a variety of Korean traditional performing arts staged in Haemi Eupseong, one of the region's representative tourist spot attracting about 2,200 people everyday. The opening is striking a big buk, symbolizing the creation of the world and followed by playing various buks. The subsequent entertainment of cheerful pungmulnori accompanied by dances will awaken your eyes and ears and the spinning hat dance will transform the place into a festival that all of the audience enjoy. Also, the rich performances including spinning plates, traditional martial arts based on the 18th century book consisting of actions with bare hands, long spears, swords, and moon blades, acrobatic skills on horseback, and tightrope-walking awarded of the Presidential Prize of Folk Art Festival will catch the eyes of the audience. A special performance of the Chungnam Gugak Orchestra is added once a month.
