Now, his estate has opened Suyeonsanbang’s doors to the public in the form of a charming and peaceful tea house. It is located in a traditional Korean building built by Lee Il-gu, a master carpenter and Human Cultural Property who participated in the restoration of Gyeongbokgung Palace. With high ceilings, the whole building has a soothing smell of pine. It’s a popular place for business dining as well as the first meeting between the parents of soon-to-be bride and groom. The restaurant specializes in course meals including gujeolpan, geonoljeolpan, sinseonno, jeonbokcho, hanbang kkorijjim, and stone baked mushrooms.

Having been operated for over 20 years, Masan Genakjjim serves a traditional blue crab dish (kkotge). The restaurant uses fresh ingredients such as blue crab directly delivered from Yeonpyeongdo Island, long-legged octopus from the dawn market, chili from Yeongyang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and garlic from Uiseong to make their dish tasty. The flavor of the meat stock is deep and light thanks to the natural ingredients such as kelp, anchovies, button mushrooms, and spring onions that are used instead of artificial seasonings. Adding more flavor to the dish are chemical-free bean sprouts and freshly cooked-rice. Ganjang-gejang (soy sauce marinated crab) is available for delivery on orders of three crabs or more.

Kungjeon Bakery in Chungjang-ro, Dong-gu, Gwangju Ciy has been serving fresh baked goods for the last 40 years. Among its 200 kinds of bread and 60 kinds of cake, the best items are the “dragon egg bread,” “butterfly pie” and “paper pie.”

Located at the end of Samcheon-dong Street, Bukmakgol is a Hanok (Korean house) restaurant, offering thick beef ribs and cabbage wraps with pork and garlic.
