Seungri is the youngest member of Big Bang but that doesn't mean that his ambitions are small. On top of his impressive musical career, Seungri has recently started taking his step to become a prominent restaurateur. Aori Ramen located in Cheongdam-dong is the singer-songwriter’s first restaurant opened in December, 2016. For many international fans of the idol group, dining at Aori Ramen is often included in their Seoul itinerary. Inside, a fairly modest layout of the interior feels warm and welcoming. With the exception of only a few tables, the seating is conveniently divided up for lone diners. The broth made at Aori Ramen is clear and just savory enough. Sliced scallions are added for a refreshing kick. The menu allows visitors to customize the toppings to their liking. A few extra slices of pork chashu lend a creamy texture to the broth.

Baekje Samgyetang has been serving delicious pots of samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) for the past 40 years in Myeong-dong, where it is crowded with people. The restaurant had been introduced in various books and magazines and was also featured on television programs. Many tourists are drawn due to the widespread media coverage of the restaurant. Statistically, about 80% of the restaurant's customers are from Japan and China.

Seoul(Jung-gu)

Yeongyang Center main branch is a 52 year-old specialty restaurant in Myeongdong. It specializes in samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and tongdak (roasted chicken). In 1960, Yeongyang Center has started to sell tongdak roasted on an electric rotisserie. Since then, the crisp and not-at-all greasy taste has attracted popularity among local Koreans and it has become a must-visit restaurant among foreign tourists. They use chickens provided by directly owned chicken farm and the owner of the restaurant thoroughly manages all the process of cooking even from the ingredients preparation level. Their main menus are samgyetang and tongdak. The Samgyetang features its tender meat and thick broth after boiling for 2 hours and the tongdak features crispy and not-fatty taste of the well-drained chicken. Among the menus, sansam Samgyetang stuffed with wild ginseng powder is the most be-loved menu.

Song Hye-kyo, one of the first-generation Hallyu stars, once again proved her talents last year in K-drama Descendants of the Sun. Recently, she has publically announced her plan to marry another Hallyu star Song Joong-ki in the coming autumn. Located near centum city in Hongdae(Hongik University Street), Jangbaksa GuGongTan-Gopchang is a designated exemplary restaurant. Only the most strictly selected ingredients are used and only Korean beef tripe are used as the main ingredients. The premium tripe has outstanding texture and is highly nutritious. It is tender at first but the more you chew, the more you will enjoy the crunchy texture and plain but deeply pleasing taste.

Leegachon Myeong-dong Branch is a specialty restaurant featuring Galbi (marinated and grilled beef ribs). A combination of the restaurant’s own special sauce, pure bronze gridiron, and oak tree charcoal creates a unique taste beloved by visitors and locals alike. The spicy galbi jjim (braised beef ribs) is another restaurant specialty.

Originating from the law of eating food at Buddhist temples, Barugongyang (발우공양) refers to the act of eating as part of practicing discipline and self-control. Barugongyang in Jong-no is a Buddhist cuisine experience center established by the Cultural Corps of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism with the aim of promoting Buddhist culture as well as the very practice of Barugongyang. The center serves healthy vegetarian traditional dishes, and offers lessons of Barugongyang to take time while eating, to appreciate food using the five senses, and not to waste any food.

Myeongdong is one of the areas of Seoul known for its floating population of temporary residents and tourists. Few restaurants in this part of town have a history of more than 30 years. One of the few that does and has remained a permanent fixture in Myeongdong is Hamheung Myeonok, a Korean restaurant that has gained in popularity over the past few decades mainly through word of mouth. The restaurant is located in a more secluded part of Myeongdong, not far from the Myeongdong Cathedral and is well known for its North Korean-style naengmyeon dishes, especially its mul-naengmyeon and hoe-naengmyeon.

This place specializes in shabu shabu with 24 years of tradition that insists on using original Korean beef fillet. This Korean beef is mouthwatering as it is directly delivered from a farm in Gwangju, Jeonnam, each day.
