Iksan Jewelry Museum

The Iksan Jewelry Museum (익산 보석박물관) was established in the Wanggung Jewelry Theme Park (located in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do) to give visitors a deeper look at artifacts of the Baekje Kingdom and to celebrate the art of Korean jewelry.Boasting an area of 141,990 square meters, the world-class museum has a collection of more than 110,000 items including very rare gemstones and life-size dinosaur skeletons. Its comprehensive library of specimens and fossils (pterosaur, plesiosaur, etc.) gives visitors a glimpse into Korea’s distant geological past.

Anmok Beach
Gangwon-do(Gangneung-si)

Anmok Beach spans over 150 km in length and covers an area of 20,000㎡. The beach is often packed with families on a vacation. Right in front of the beach is Anmok Port, where around 23 fishing boats can be moored to unload their catch of seaweed in the spring; flatfish, squid, octopus in the summer; and sailfin sandfish, and pollack in the fall and winter. The place has also gotten more popular because of the coffee geori (coffee street) that sells coffee at reasonable prices.

Baegmagang River (백마강), which literally means ‘the largest river in the Baekje Kingdom’, refers to the 16km-long Geumgang River.There are many historic sites all along Baegmagang River, which flows around Mt. Busosan, including Cheonjeongdae Altar (천정대), where important national affairs of the Baekje Dynasty were determined, Nakhwaam Rock (낙화암), Joryongdae Rock, Gudeure, BusanㆍDaejaegak Pavilion, Jaondae Rock and Subukjeong Pavilion.* Joryongdae Rock (조룡대)A small island-like rock on the Baegmagang riverside* Daejaegak Pavilion (대재각)Daejaegak Pavilion is located at the Baegmagang River cliff across from the Gudeure Ferry. Gangneung Danoje Festival

The Gangneung Danoje Festival was designated a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2005 and is Important Intangible Cultural Property No. 13 in Korea in 1967. The festival serves to preserve the folk culture of the Joseon Dynasty and has been a popular festival since 1975.Danoje Festival includes rituals such as the Daegwallyeong Guksa Seonghwangje (a tribute to Monk Beomil, believed to protect Gangneung) and Yeongsinje (a deity greeting ritual). Folk performances, ssireum wrestling, swing riding, and tug-of-war competitions follow these rituals. During the Danoje Festival, visitors are also invited to participate in various events: watching a traditional wedding ceremony, making surichui rice cake, washing one's hair in iris-infused water, and drinking alcoholic beverages offered to the gods. There are also regional dialect contests and other cultural programs.
