Geomundo Island
Jeollanam-do(Yeosu-si)

Located approximately halfway between Yeosu-si City and Jeju Island, Geomundo Island is part of the Dadohae Maritime National Park. It is divided into Dongdo, Seodo, and Godo Islands, all of which offer scenic views of quaint towns and surrounding nature. Also, Geomundo is the access point for the famous Baekdo Island group, a spectacular array of uninhabited rock pinnacles attached with numerous legends. Island History Geomundo Island's history dates back to the bronze era with the discovery of a stone sword on one of the islands. Subsequent discoveries of coins from the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD) that were used for more than 700 years up to 621AD have also been found. Discoveries of celadon from the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392) have also been located on Geomundo’s islands. Geomundo had been commonly known as Godo until the British sailors arrived on the island in 1885, and put claim to the island in order to construct a naval port to fight off the Russian fleets. They named it Port Hamilton. Soon, Admiral Jeong Yeochang came to Geomundo to challenge the audacity of the British, and, in turn, was struck by the high literacy level of the islanders. He recommended to the then ruler that the island be renamed ‘Geomun,’ meaning ‘great literacy.’ The British sailors eventually perished, but their graves can be found in a well-preserved cemetery on the island.

Donghak Peasants Revolution Memorial Hall
Jeollabuk-do(Jeongeup-si)

The Donghak Peasants Revolution Memorial Hall was opened on May 11, 2004 in Donghak-ro, Deokcheon-myeon (in Jeongeup-si, Jeollabuk-do Province) near the Hwangto-hyeon Battlefield where the Donghak peasants rose up against corrupt public officials.The memorial hall has on display weapons and other items related to the Donghak Peasants Revolution as well as images of the battle. There is also a permanent exhibition room showing the evolution of the revolution and another exhibition room where special exhibitions are organized twice a year.

Hagosudong Beach

Hagosudong Beach, often referred to as 'the Saipan of Korea' with its sandy beach and spectacular formation of rocks and cliffs, is located on Udo Island off the coast of Jeju-do. Although all beaches surrounding Jeju-do are beautiful, Hagosudong is more exotic and distinctive in nature. Located in Joan-myeon, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, KOFIC Namyangju Studios is a film-making studio complex built on a 1,323,113㎡ site with an outdoor filming studio, 6 indoor studios of different sizes, a recording studio, and various film-making equipment. More specifically, the complex has large-scale outdoor sets that were made to shoot Korean movies J.S.A. and Chihwaseon (Painted Fire). Additional attractions of the park include a miniature exhibition hall that shows props used in the 3D animation movie Wonderful Days and its film making process, the Film Culture Museum where visitors can learn about the birth and technological development of films as well as the film making process, the video experience hall where visitors can have hands-on experience in the world of visuals and audio, the video principle experience hall where one can experience and learn the basic principles of films, a wardrobe department, a prop room, and the Cine Theater that screens a Korean film every month for free.

Gangguhang Port
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Yeongdeok-gun)

Gangguhang Port is a large harbor in Yeongdeok, Gyeongsangnam-do Province. Osipcheon Stream, which is well known as a place for sweetfish-fishing, runs from Mt. Juwangsan in Cheongsong and empties into the sea at Gangguhang Port. Gangguhang Port is the main marketplace for Yeongdeok Daegae crabs and since there are so many places selling crabs near the port, the area is called "Daegae Street." Most recently, a large sculpture of a sailboat was put in place near the port, becoming a landmark for tourists. Gangguhang Port was a film location for many dramas and movies and is also famous for its driving course that winds along the coast and through the fishing community (Road #918 between Gangguhang Port and Chuksanhang Port).

Gyeongju Najeong Well
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Gyeongju-si)

To the southeast of the royal tomb, is a small monument that has been erected among the pine trees; next to the monument is a well called Najeong. According to Samguksagi (Historical records of the Three Kingdoms) and Samgungnyusa (Memorabilia from the Three Dynasties), Park Hyeokgeose, the founding monarch of Silla, was born by this well. In 69 BC, Sobeolgong, the head of Goheochon Village, saw a white horse on its knees by the well. When he approached the well he found that the horse had magically disappeared and that a large egg was left in its place, from which a boy was born. When the boy turned 13 years old (57 BC), he was appointed king by the village chiefs and began to rule the area then called ‘Seorabeol’. A memorial stone (2.25 meters high, 45 centimeters long, and 21 centimeters wide) was erected in 1803 in the third year of King Sunjo's rule (Joseon Dynasty) detailing the historical origins of the founding father of Silla.
