Haeundae Grand Hotel
Busan(Haeundae-gu)

The Haeundae Grand Hotel is a five-star hotel situated in Haeundae, an extremely popular tourist destination known for its beautiful beaches and hot springs. The hotel has a variety of leisure and sport facilities, but is most popular for its hot springs sauna. The hotel sauna is supplied by special, natural hot spring water that is only found at the nearby beaches. Rich in calcium, the spa water is said to be excellent for your skin, increasing the skin’s overall softness and smoothness. Spa water used at the Haeundae Grand Hotel Hot Spring Sauna is pumped up directly from the natural hot spring water using a series of underground pipe systems installed in Busan between 1952 and 1955. While it's difficult to pinpoint exactly when the Haeundae Hot Springs were first discovered, records of the hot springs have been found dating back to the Silla Kingdom (during which the springs were referred to as the "Gunam Hot Springs") saying that Queen Jin Seong visited the hot springs as a means to treat her smallpox. One hundred years ago, the hot springs were also said to be a cure for leprosy and drew afflicted citizens from neighboring towns. Though the springs were once closed off due to frequent invasions by Japanese raiders, efforts have successfully been made to revive the hot springs of Busan, once again making them a popular spot for many visitors. In addition to the sauna, guests at the Haeundae Grand Hotel can also use the hotel’s jjimjilbang, which is comprised of various rooms such as a germanium room, a gravel room, an oxygen room, and an Elvan (quartz) room that has large heated beds made from a mixture of gems and stones. The jjimjilbang also has other heated beds made from Elvan and red clay.

Hallyeo Waterway

Well-known for its uncontaminated, clear waters, Hallyeo Waterway flows from Odongdo island of Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do to Hansando island of Tongyeong-si, Gyeongsangnam-do and remains protected due to its inclusion in Hallyeohaesang National Park. The waterway is dotted with over 500 large and small islands and was the site of countless navel battles fought by Admiral Yi Sun-Shin during the Japanese invasions of 1592-1598.

Gamaksan Mountain

Gamaksan Mountain gets its name from the slivers of bluish tinged rock (‘Gamak’ meaning ‘dark blue rock’) on the mountain. Located between Seoul and Gaeseong, the mountain offers a view of Songaksan Mountain in Gaeseong and Bukhansan Mountain in Seoul. At the western foothills are the old Beomryunsa Temple and, 30 meters away, Ungyepokpo Waterfall. Below Janggunbong Peak you’ll find Imkkeokjeonggul Cave where Imkkeokjeong, the legendary Korean Robin Hood, hid from government troops. Nearby is a monument for soldiers from England who were lost in the Korean War.

Masan Place (마산집)

Masan Place is located in a famous food alley near Seoul City Hall. The restaurant has been in operation for over 40 years, being most well known for their soegogi gukbap (beef rice soup) and modeum jeon (assorted pancakes). The latter comes with pan-fried oysters, seafood, and other ingredients. This dish goes particularly well with alcohol. Masan Place is known for being frequented visited by Former President Roh Moo-hyun. Since the establishment opened, the same cook has prepared its delicious meals. The restaurant was named after the proprietor from Masan.

It also runs a business center with computers and printers. The entire guest rooms are operated as a non-smoking area and have a separate smoking area on the third floor.

Piagol Autumn Foliage Festival

The Jirisan Piagol Autumn Foliage Festival is held under the theme of "Variegated colors of Autumn foliage trip with Samhong" in Toji-myeon, Gurye-gun districts. Samhong literally means the "three reds," referring to the vibrant red foliage, the red-tinted waters, and the red in the eye of the beholder. The festival opens with a funeral rites ceremony in appreciation of the beautiful suroundings, followed by a concert, a trekking and a one night, two day camping tour in Jirisan Dulle-gil Road, followed by various hands-on programs. During the festival, a free shuttle bus will run, and visitors will receive free admission to Yeongoksa Temple.

Wolchulsan Hot Springs

Wolchulsan Spa is located five kilometers northwest of the town of Yeongam. The spa overlooks the beautiful scenery of Wolchulsan Mountain, the extensive plain of Yeongam, and Yeongamcheon Stream, a tributary of Yeongsangang River. The source of Wolchulsan Spa’s hot spring waters is red feldspar granite (elvan) that forms the aquifer column of Wolchulsan Mountain. The adhesive and purifying properties of the elvan removes harmful organic matter and pollutants, resulting in pure, natural hot spring waters. Rich in all kinds of minerals, dissolved oxygen, and far-infrared emissivity, the elvan hot spring waters are known to be effective for alleviating various ailments such as fatigue, neuralgia, rheumarthritis, skin trouble, and athlete’s foot. Muchangpo Mystic Sea Road Jukkumi and Dodari Festival

The Muchangpo Mystic Sea Road Jjukkumi and Dodari Festival is held from mid-March to early April at the Mucheonpo Port area. During the festival season, there will also be an abundance of freshly caught seasonal seafood such as jjukkumi (baby octopus), gaebul (fat innkeeper worm), and shellfish.
