Travel Back in Time to 1890! Visit the 1890 Namsangol Night Market to experience what life was like in the year 1890! This special event will run every weekend at Namsangol Hanok Village from June 3rd through Oct. 28th, 2017. The night market will feature a traditional layout, much like what would have been used during the Joseon Dynasty, but there will be fun modern touches to enjoy as well.  Visitors can enjoy activities and events that blend the traditional with the modern; that fuse East and West. There will be traditional games competitions, traditional music performances, and traditional clothing fashion shows, all featuring foreign nationals as performers. There will be a range of interactive events and visitors will also have a chance to try traditional Persian food. Palbong Bakery

Palbong Bakery appears again in Bread, Love, and Dreams, following its appearance in Cain and Abel. Situated at the entrance of Suamgol, Cheongju (Chungcheongbuk-do), it is a main filming location in Bread, Love, and Dreams. Remodeled after W Gallery, its first floor is the bakery while the second floor is a coffee shop, and the first underground floor is run as an art studio. The wild popularity of the drama has attracted many visitors to the bakery. Ulleungdo Cuttlefish Festival

Held every August, Ulleungdo Cuttlefish Festival is a fun event promoting its outstanding local produce, cuttlefish. The festival on the beautiful island attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors. Symbolizing the island, fish gathering lamps from cuttlefish boats shed an elegant glow on the sea at night. The main events of the festival include catching cuttlefish in the sea against the scenic backdrop of the island, riding on a cuttlefish boat, and eating delicious cuttlefish dishes. The festival also offers a fun array of events for visitors: Fishing Contest, Catching Mudfish, Walking on Traditional Roads, and Playing Pumpkin Taffy. In addition, visitors can purchase local produce at Local Produce Market, eat delicious food at Restaurant Market, and enjoy Ulleungdo Island/Dokdo Island Exhibition.

Ottchil Art Museum
Gyeongsangnam-do(Tongyeong-si)

Tongyeong has been known for Najeonchilgi (mother-of-pearl crafts) for over four centuries. Naturally, Ottchil Art Museum (“Ottchil” meaning “lacquer”) showcases the best of mother-of-pearl crafts of Tongyeong. Since prehistoric times, Najeonchilgi (along with its precursor, Chaehwachilgi) has formed the essence of traditional crafts. It refers to crafts employing mother-of-pearl. During the Goryeo Period (918-1392), Najeonchilgi blossomed into a national art; it evolved into a folk art during the Joseon Period (1392-1910). The museum displays a mixture of daily use crafts and contemporary lacquer art (including formative art pieces), both employing the finest lacquer extracted from lacquer trees. The displayed items provide visitors with an opportunity to appreciate the elegance of traditional Korean crafts.

Haengjusanseong Fortress
Gyeonggi-do(Goyang-si)

The Haengjusanseong Fortress (행주산성, historic site no. 56) atop Deogyangsan Mountain was the site of a major Korean victory against the enemy during the Japanese invasion 400 years ago. Women also participated in the dramatic battle, carrying stones in their aprons (haengju in Korean). The original date and purpose of the fortress’ construction remains a mystery, but it is believed the construction dates back to the ancient Baekje period, as many relics from that era have been excavated by archeological surveys. Inside the fortress is Chungjangsa, a shrine paying tribute to General Gwon Yul who led the victorious effort. Transportation to the fortress has become much more convenient with the opening of the Jayuro road and the completion of the Haengju Bridge, making the fortress a popular destination on holidays.* Haengju Great Victory FestivalReligious ceremonies and many other cultural events are held on March 14 every year in memory of General Gwon who won the battle and saved the nation.
