Danyang Jeokseong Fortress
Chungcheongbuk-do(Danyang-gun)

Danyang Jeokseong Fortress is a fortress made of stone from Seongjaesan Mountain in Danyang. About 900 square meters of the surrounding area was mostly destroyed, but in the northeast section, the inner wall of the part that was heaped across the wall still remains. The castle was built surrounding the mountain's southern slope and around the summit. It was designated as Historical Site No. 265 in August 1979. Also, the circumference of the fortress is 923 meters, but most of the fortress walls have collapsed. A 3-meter section of wall remains at the end of the northeast part. Three gates were found in the southwest, east, and southeast areas. Inside of the fortress is the Jeokseongbi stone stele. Jeokseong Fortress is also called Jeoksanseong, as the place was an outpost for the Silla army's invasion of the north, where they stole Goguryeo army’s compound. * Historical symbol of Jeokseongsanseong Fortress Jeokseongbi Stone Stele was found in 1978 inside of the fortress. This artifact relates the power struggle between the Silla and Goguryeo. Besides the stone stele, the fortress also houses relics from the Three Kingdoms Period, such as earthenware and tiles from the Goryeo period. Also, the method employed to construct the structure resulted in its sturdiness, and thus the fortress has important value for studying fortification.

The expo also aims to make Korea a leading nation in the seaweed industry through an active response to the growing demand for Korean seaweed. A range of activities have been arranged for visitors to the festival, held in the Wando Port district, which include an exhibition, hands-on programs, an international forum, conference, and other events. It is the first expo to be centered on the theme of a variety of seaweed including dried and sea mustard. The seaweed expo will be a venue for the exchange of seaweed-related information and technology for participants representing 60 corporations in 20 countries around the world.

Jumunjin Lighthouse
Gangwon-do(Gangneung-si)

Established in 1918, Jumunjin Lighthouse is the first light house in Gangwon-do region. The lighthouse is 3m in max diameter and 10m in x_height with white mortar covered the exterior wall. The building shows the early structure of the country’s lighthouse architecture, which is a great value in terms of the nation’s architectural history. The light signal blinks at 15-second interval and can be identified from 37km away. The lighthouse was once destroyed during Korean War and restored in 1951. Jumunjinhang Harbor, where the lighthouse is located, is 210,000㎡ in size. After becoming a half-way station of Busan-Wonsan Route in 1917, both passenger and freight vessels made an entrance to the harbor.
