Shim’s Tapas

Shim’s Tapas, opened in 2006, introduced Spanish tapas to Korea, attracting many young and trend-conscious people in the Hongdae area and foreign residents of Seoul. Shim's Tapas serves Spanish cuisine cooked with natural ingredients and spices. The bread, including baguettes, rye bread, and olive bread, are baked in the restaurant kitchen. Along with 30 different kinds of tapas, other items that are available include rice dishes, spaghetti, pizza, wine, beer, cocktails, and coffee.

National Folk Museum of Korea

Jaha Sonmandu

Located in Buam-dong, Seoul, Jaha Sonmandu (자하손만두) is a restaurant specializing in Korean hand-made stuffed dumplings. Though the restaurant’s exterior is that of a classic restaurant, the succulent flavors of the food are reminiscent of grandma’s cooking—timeless and full of love. Main dishes include Mulmandu (boiled Mandu), Pyeonsu (vegetarian dumplings stuffed with mushrooms and cucumbers), Kimchi Mandu and Mandu Jeongol (Mandu cooked with various vegetables in a casserole). In addition to Mandu, there are Bindaetteok (mung-bean pancakes) and Kongguksu (cold noodles in finely crushed beans). Unlike other Mandu restaurants, Jaha Son Mandu features a course meal named “Jaha sangcharim.” Make sure to have a drink of Makgeolli or Bokbunjaju (liquor made of wild mountain raspberry) with your mandu for a perfect taste combination.

Opened in May 2016 in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Y.M.C. Seoul is the third store in the world following Y.M.C. UK and Y.M.C. London. The brand Y.M.C. was unveiled in 1995 with a uniquely new sportswear design combining workwear, soccer fan fashion, military look, and traditional costumes. Y.M.C. is short for “You Must Create,” and it pursues the brand philosophy of one creating his or her own style instead of following fashion. Products mainly consist of functional design items such as clothing, bags, and shoes for men and women. In keeping with the brand slogan, Y.M.C. is more about unique design products than trend-sensitive items. The store space spans two floors: the first floor with the main entrance and exit and a showroom, and the base room. The showroom on the first floor displays new products representing the Y.M.C. brand. This is where customers can find all products by Y.M.C. The basement, which is decorated with a small indoor garden as well as artworks on the wall, occasionally functions as a cultural space for special events for customers.

The museum aims to collect, preserve, and study Korean locks and to promote their benefits and design worldwide.The Lock Museum is an important spot in which visitors are exposed to new perspectives on locks. It offers visitors the opportunity to understand the cultural and aesthetic meaning of them. Centered on visitors, the museum will continue to be a facilitator of cultural communication between visitors and locks.
