Mapo Bridge connects Yonggang-dong, Mapo-gu and Yeouido-dong (Yeongdeungpo-gu) and is 1,400m long and 25m wide (6-lane road). The construction of the bridge first started in February of 1968 and was completed in May of 1970. At the time of its completion the bridge was named “Seoul Bridge,” which was later changed to “Mapo Bridge” in 1984. The bridge was the fourth bridge to be built over the Hangang River following the construction of Hannam Bridge.

Hyoja Bakery is a cozy and small bakery famous for supplying nutritious and healthy baked goods for Cheongwadae (the Blue House), Seoul Government Complex and 10 kindergarten schools. The bakery has been in the same spot for nearly 3 decades, located in Seochon, Jongno-gu. The 24/7 store is 3 stories tall, where the 2nd and 3rd floors are used for producing delicious breads, and the 1st floor is the sales venue. From donuts, to croquettes and bagels, they make a wide variety of delicious breads. Among the many great treats, the most famous is the homemade corn bread filled with sweet corn, minced onion, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. Although Hyoja does not have point saving cards like many chain stores do, it does offer a lot of free samples, and additional free breads for purchases over 10,000 won. Customers make repeat visits for this kind of service only found at small bakeries like Hyoja.


Seoul(Jongno-gu)

The Hwangi Art Museum was opened to honor the works of the painter, Kim Hwan-Gi. Kim Hwan-Gi (1913-1974) was Korea's top artist of modernism. He began painting abstract paintings in 1930, and in 1950 began using nature as his motivation to portray the emotions of Korea. Kim Hwan-Gi was famous for his unforgettable pieces. He is the role model for many young aspiring artists in Korea. On the first floor of the museum there is an art shop with scarves, ties, and other various products with Kim's designs are available for purchase. Upon entering the exhibits all bags must be checked in at the front desk. As you enter, aside from the paintings and art pieces, the most eye-popping sight is the beautifully decorated windows. You cannot help but marvel at their beauty. For those that are tired and need rest, there is a rest area on the second floor. There is a nice outdoor view from this area. Outside you can go for a walk on the trail. As you walk up the narrowing trail you will see a pond, and at the end of the trail you will enter a wooded area where you can rest.

Korean beef bulgogi (marinated thinly-sliced beef) and gomguksu (wheat flour noodles in a thick beef bone soup) are the most popular items here. Another popular menu item is the North Korean-style wangmandu (large dumpling). Because they serve simple main dishes and elaborate side dishes, this place is a favorite with many.

Ihwa Mural Village is located in Ihwa-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul-si. The local Public Art Committee carried out the Naksan Project in 2006 to improve the local environment of Ihwa Village. Approximately 60 artists painted walls and installed artworks for the project. Visitors to the village can enjoy looking for and viewing the beautiful murals and sculptures in the village.
