Gangwon-do(Hongcheon-gun)

Hongcheon Hot Springs has a great seaside view and the water at the springs contains a lot of alkali sodium bicarbonate that has a silky texture and is great for skin health. In addition, if people who suffer from hyperacidity drink this spring water, the water helps neutralizes stomach acid. It also is good for recovering from fatigue, neuralgia, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, allergy dermatitis, eczema chronicum, removing fat, healing skin cells, and anti-aging.


Gangwon-do(Donghae-si)

Gangwon-do(Gangneung-si)

Established in 1918, Jumunjin Lighthouse is the first light house in Gangwon-do region. The lighthouse is 3m in max diameter and 10m in x_height with white mortar covered the exterior wall. The building shows the early structure of the country’s lighthouse architecture, which is a great value in terms of the nation’s architectural history. The light signal blinks at 15-second interval and can be identified from 37km away. The lighthouse was once destroyed during Korean War and restored in 1951. Jumunjinhang Harbor, where the lighthouse is located, is 210,000㎡ in size. After becoming a half-way station of Busan-Wonsan Route in 1917, both passenger and freight vessels made an entrance to the harbor.


Gangwon-do(Hongcheon-gun)

Hongcheon Ginseng Hanu Myeongpum Festival is held annually in early October in the city of Hongcheon. The natural clean air and water help this area to have excellent quality ginseng and hanu (Korean beef), for which it is famous. Inside the festival venue is a self-serve restaurant for visitors to try Hongcheon hanu, and visitors can also purchase six-year aged ginseng at a discounted price. In addition, Hongcheon Narakkot Mugunghwa Festival is held at the same period, giving tourists the chance to partake in diverse programs. Nearby attractions include Hongcheon Gingko tree forest, opened only for a short time each year in early October and selected as the best area for healing.


Gangwon-do(Jeongseon-gun)

Gariwangsan Mountain in Gangwon-do is one of the major mountains that make up the Taebaek Mountain Range. It is home to numerous alpine tree species, as well as wild flowers and herbs. Its slopes are gentle enough to allow for pleasant hiking. The mountain natural recreation forest is located at the Hoedong-ri Village entrance. It has paths that are lined with thick, tall trees that almost cover the sky. It also has several conveniene facilities.


Gangwon-do(Yangyang-gun)

Hangyeryeong, Misiryeong and Jinburyeong are the three ridges that represent Mt. Seoraksan, and Hangyeryeong long with the Misiryeong. It was called Sodongraryeong as the connecting path between the east coast and the inland. In December 1971, a large paved road was made to connect Yangyang and Inje, which became the tourist road between inner Mt. Seoraksan and outer Mt. Seoraksan. If you go down Hangyeryeong path you will reach Osaek District. Everything in this district are said to be related to a factor of five as “O” in Osaek means “five” in Korean. They even say the carbonated water spring from the base rock here has 5 flavors. The 3-story pagoda (National Treasure No.497) that stands in Seongguksa Temple is called Osaek Stone pagoda because the rock is said to shine in 5 colors.The Osaek flower myth says that the village name 'Osaek' was given because there was a tree that bloomed flowers of 5 different colors.


Gangwon-do(Donghae-si)

Gangwon-do(Inje-gun)

Jangsudae (장수대) is a traditional Korean house surrounded by a pine tree forest. It was built where the waterfall stream meets the Hangyecheon Stream, and Jayangjeon was originally built here. General Oh Deuk-Jun proposed to establish this site to pray for the souls of the soldiers who died in the Korean War. The south Korean soldiers built this traditional villa and named it Jangsudae. Lee Eun-Sang (1903-1982) wrote poems of the sorrow that the war had brought while he was at this place. Across the villa is the Jangsudae ticket booth, and this is the starting point of the mountain hiking of Daeseung Falls and Daeseungryeong. Nearby Jangsudae is Daesueng Falls and Oknyeotang, which is named after the story that an angel was relaxing at the waterfall and was chased by a large centipede and had to run away to this bath. This site is a popular tourist site for the Gama-tang, Hangyesanseong Fortress, and Haneulbyeok where tourists come to relax. This villa has a capacity of 100 people, which is large for a villa in the mountains. The high peak you see over Hangyecheon Stream from Jangsudae is Mt. Garisan. It forms the mountaintop with Jugeokbong Peak and Three brother-bong peaks.


Gangwon-do(Inje-gun)

Songkang Canoe School is located in Naerincheon Stream and offers educational programs and tours led by a professional training team certified by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. Also, the school operates a store that sells imported kayak and canoe equipment.
