Chungju World Martial Arts Festival
Chungcheongbuk-do(Chungju-si)

This festival showcases all of the world’s martial arts forms, as well as Korea’s traditional martial arts. This festival opens with the theme 'World's Martial Arts and Culture', showcasing demonstrations of Taekkyeon, Taekwondo, and Hapkido by Korea’s traditional martial arts groups. Martial artists from 16 nations have been invited to the festival, and will be taking part in demonstrations and performances. Programs have been prepared for non-Korean speakers and visitors will get a chance to try out many of the martial arts on display.

Daegwallyeong Special Tourist Zone
Gangwon-do(Pyeongchang-gun)

The Daegwallyeong Special Tourist Zone is made up of five cities and counties in Gangwon-do, including Pyeongchang-gun, which is the host city of the 2018 Winter Olympics. Blessed with picturesque highland scenery, the Daegwallyeong Special Tourist Zone includes the cities of Gangneung-si, Donghae-si, Samcheok-si, and the counties of Hoengseong-gun and Pyeongchang-gun. Gangneung is located the nearest to Daegwallyeong. Famous attractions in Gangneung include Gyeongpoho Lake and Gyeongpodae Pavilion. Two of Gangneung’s historic villas, Ojukheon House and Seongyojang House, have been beautifully maintained for centuries. The city of Donghae’s two ports, Donghae Port and Mukho Port, are always buzzing with the energy of coastal life. Donghae Port is a base for the distribution of materials, industrial development, and trade. Cruise ferries take passengers to Russia and Japan. Meanwhile, ferries going to Ulleung-do depart from Mukho Port, which is located near Mukho Lighthouse and the Bukpyeong 5-day Market. Samcheok is a coastal city in the southernmost part of Gangwon-do. With National Road No. 7 at the center, Samcheok is bordered by Donghae to the north and Uljin-gun to the south. Hwanseongul Cave, the biggest limestone cave in Korea, and Daegeumgul Cave are some of the city’s major attractions. Hoengseong-gun is famous for its hanu (Korean beef) and the diverse agricultural experience programs the county offers. The lush forests and the road with a scenic view of Taegisan Mountain also attract many tourists. At 700 meters above sea level, Pyeongchang-gun is home to many ski resorts, making it a major destination for winter sports. Asan Botanical Garden

Jangsaengpo Whale Museum

The Jangsaengpo Whale Museum (opened on May, 31 2005) is the first and only whale museum in Korea and stands on what used to be a central area for the Korean whaling industry. After whaling was banned in 1986, 250 artifacts from whalers and the whaling industry were collected and put on display. Visitors can enjoy experience zones such as the Whale Belly Road or the Underwater Adventure Zone. Exhibitions include things like a Bryde's whale skeleton, a killer whale skeleton, a gray whale corner, and whaling ships.

Yongdusan Jagalchi Special Tourist Zone
Busan(Jung-gu)

Yongdusan Jagalchi Special Tourist Zone covers the area around Gwangbok-dong in Busan, which includes Yongdusan Park and the well-known traditional markets such as Jagalchi Market, Gukje Market and Bupyeong Market, which are filled with life and energy. Gwangbok-dong area is always crowded with young tourists as well as young locals enjoying the vibrant shopping street and affordable street food. At Yongdusan Park, visitors can enjoy a panoramic sight of Busan, and the night view from the park should not be missed. There is an escalator to take visitors up to Yongdusan Park. Jagalchi Market and Gukje Market retain some traces of what Busan used to be like in the 1970s and 1980s, and that is why these markets are popular among the middle-aged as well as young people. There are a lot of marine products and food to eat. In particular, Gomjangeo (inshore hagfish) street in Jagalchi Market is well known, along with the restaurants that serve the grilled fish at affordable prices. The Busan International Film Festival and the Busan Jagalchi Festival take place in the autumn. There are dozens of secondhand bookstores in Bosu-dong Book Alley where people can freely purchase, sell, read or browse secondhand books. Apart from Jagalchi Market and Film Street, the area around Nampo-dong, together with Haeundae Special Tourist Zone, is famous for holding the Busan International Film Festival. On the Food Street, which spans from Film Street to Gukje Market via Arirang Street, are street vendors selling food such as ssiat hotteok (seed-stuffed Korean-style pancake), bibim dangmyeon (spicy sweet potato noodles) and patbingsu (shaved ice with sweetened red beans). There are also restaurants serving jokbal (steamed pig trotters,) dwaejigalbi (grilled spareribs) and gopchang (grilled beef or pork intestine). It is the perfect place for visitors to enjoy unique Korean food.
