Seoul(Seodaemun-gu) , Sinchon・Ewha Womans University

Located at the skirt of Ansan Mountain in Bongwon-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, Bongwonsa temple , as the center of Korean Buddhism Taego, is a thousand year old temple with a long history and tradition. In 889 (3rd year of Shilla Jinseong Queen’s reign), Master Dosun founded it at the ground of Yeonhui palace (now Yonsei Univ.) and named it Banyasa temple. It was destroyed during the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592, and later in 1748 (24th year of Joseon King Yeongjo’s reign), it was rebuilt and renamed “Bongwonsa” by two Buddhist monks, Chanjeup and Jeungam.“Yeongsanjae”, one of the Buddhist rituals and also the Important Intangible Cultural Properties No. 50, takes place at Bongwonsa on June 6 every year wishing for the world peace and the reunification of North and South Korea. It was designated as one of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2009. During Yeongsanjae, visitors can enjoy the Buddhist arts such as Beompae (Buddhist temple music for rituals) and dancing. Also, during summer time, “Seoul Lotus Flower Culture Festival” takes place, so visitors can enjoy the beautiful lotus flowers which are a symbol of Buddhism.

Daegu(Suseong-gu)

Opened in May 2007, Suseong Artpia is a major art center in Daegu. It has specialized, independent spaces for housing performances, exhibitions, and art camps. The art center’s facade was designed to resemble a crane flying away with its wings stretched out in order promote the image of Muhaksan Mountain (named as such because its shape is reminiscent of a flying crane or hak), the mountain on which the center is located. When viewed from the sides however, the center is shaped like a ship, as it was once the site of a large pond. With such an impressive exterior further highlighted by impressive lighting at night, water fountains, and landscaping, Suseong Artpia has become a rising attraction of Daegu. The center is equipped with a mega concert hall that can accommodate diverse genres of performing arts such as an opera, musical, ballet, theater, dance, music concert, and more.


Chungcheongbuk-do(Jecheon-si)

Cheongpung Lake Monorail will take tourists along the slope to the top of famous Bibongsan Mountain (531m). The monorail first started operating to carry equipment for people who wanted to go paragliding on the middle of Bibongsan Mountain. The monorail now operates on a 2.9 round-trip track.        


Gyeonggi-do(Hanam-si)

Serving as a platform for the creation and distribution of performing arts projects focusing on Asia, ACC Performance seeks to establish itself as an international hub bridging Korea, Asia, and the rest of the world. It offers original performance programs that usher in the future of performing arts across multiple genres, special performance programs that provide cultural and art experiences for people of all ages, and invitational performance programs that expand cultural opportunities for citizens by featuring the most memorable and noteworthy performances.   Original Programs   The ACC creates new performance programs that defy genres. Theater 1 at ACC Theater is Korea’s largest variable “black box” theater. The theater is built for new types of performance that transcend the confines of conventional theaters, space and genres. The ACC seeks out content tailored to Theater 1 that fully utilizes its variable structure and stage system, with a view to building its own repertoires.       ACC Original Programs   Asia Culture Center Original Programs   ACC Theater develops and distributes various forms of performance programs based on Asia’s cultural resources. From the children’s theater production, The Giggling Tree in 2015, ACC Theater developed and distributed another children’s theater production The Little Musician in 2016, the English musical Treasure Hunters in 2017, the film voice acting show Free Wedding, and the animation music theater Sugungga in 2018.     Co-Produced Programs Asia Culture Center Co-Produced Programs Collaborating with curators in Korea and other Asian countries, the ACC discusses cultural and social issues from different cultures and co-produces artistic representations of them.
