Gyeongsangnam-do(Geochang-gun)

Designated as National Park in 1975, Deogyusan National Park (덕유산국립공원, 1,614m) covers four counties. The ridgeline from the Hyangjeokbong peak of Mt. Bukdeogyusan to Mt. Namdeogyusan is 17.5km, and the altitude is 1,200m high. There are five peaks over 1,330m above sea level and eight large valleys. Mt. Deogyusan is one of Korea's tourist highlights and boasts temples, relics as well as a ski resort. Of the many wonderful sites, Mujuguchon-dong, the 25km valley range from Najetong gate to Baekryeonsa Temple, is especially noted as one of the 10 best tourist areas of Korea. Every valley has scenic spots and Gucheon-dong is particularly famous. Baekryeonsa Temple is located at the end of Gucheon-dong Valley. It is famous for the Stone Samjon Buddha, cerated during the Goryeo Dynasty and many monks came from this temple before and after the Injinwaeran War (1592~1598). Also, Jeoksangsanseong Fortress, Anguksa Temple, Guebul and many other relics are scattered throughout the park. Mt. Deogyusan boasts an abundance of beauty throughout all four seasons, and the 600 species of animals and plants, including the unique landscape of the yew trees are especially eye-catching. 


Gangwon-do(Samcheok-si)

Located in Samcheok, Gangwon-do Province, High1 ChooChooPark is Korea’s first resort designed to offer the longest and best railroad experience. As Korea’s only train themed park comprised of a mountainside railroad and the Yeongdong Railroad Line, High1 ChooChooPark allows visitors to experience and enjoy a memorable and exciting train journey. Nearby tourist destinations include the Saecheonnyeon Coastal Road, which was selected as one of Korea’s “100 Most Beautiful Roads,” and Janghohang Port, which is often referred to as the “Napoli of Korea,” and also where visitors can enjoy snorkeling, sea rafting, and other aquatic activities.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Sangju-si)

Gyeongcheondae Terrace (경천대) is said to be the most beautiful spot along the nearly 510km-long Nakdonggang River (낙동강). Gyeongcheondae Terrace, with its sheer cliff walls and scenic landscape, is imbued with a sense of serene mystery and harmony. It has also been called Jacheondae. It is located above Muujeong Pavilion, which was built during the Joseon Period. In Gyeongcheondae, you will find Yongso Pond, which has a legend concerning a general who died during the Imjinwaeran (the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592) and an ancient manger. Gyeongcheondae Terrace offers a spectacular view of the winding Nakdonggang River and beautiful rock formations peeking through the pine trees’ branches. It features an observatory, an artificial waterfall, Gyeongcheondae Children’s Land, and campsites and is the location of the mega-hit TV series, ‘Sangdo.’


Gangwon-do(Jeongseon-gun)

Jeollanam-do(Yeosu-si)

Hyangiram (Cultural Property Material No. 40) is one of four Buddhist hermitages in Korea where the faithful come to pray. It was originally named Wontongam, established by monk Wonhyo during the fourth year of Baekje King Uija’s reign (644). Monk Yunpil later renamed Wontongam as Geumoam in the 9th year of Goryeo King Gwangjong’s reign (958) and then Hyangiram named by monk Inmuk during the 41st year of Joseon King Sukjong’s reign (1715). Hyangiram was a base camp for Buddhist monks who helped Admiral Lee Sun-shin fight the war during the Japanese invasion.The temple contains Daeungjeon, Gwaneumjeon, Chilseonggak, Dokseodang, and Chwiseongru, all of which are well preserved. Camellias and subtropical plants surround the Bawibong Peak and the fantastic rock of Mt. Geumosan. The mountain path to Hyangiram is very steep and it is one of the exciting mountain courses of Korea. To reach the temple, you will need to climb the rock at the midpoint of the trail and pass the stone gate, situated between two large rocks near the temple.


Gangwon-do(Pyeongchang-gun)

Located in Pyeongchang-gun of Gwangwon-do Province, Baengnyong Cave is a 1.8㎞-long, natural limestone cave. Its entrance, located 10-15㎞ above sea level, is surrounded by rocks and was once accessible only by boat. In 1976, local residents expanded a small lane in the middle of the main corridor to allow easier exploration. Alongside Donggang River, the cave harbors mysteries of the past 500 million years including a piano-shaped stalactite, a huge stone pillar, and a stalagmite looking just like a fried egg. The cave was designated as Natural Monument No. 260 in 1979, and it also opened Baengnyong Cave Eco Experience Center in 2010. Visitors may also venture out to nearby tourist sites for trekking, rafting, and studying nature at Donggang Fresh Water Fish Center.


Gangwon-do(Donghae-si)

Founded by Suncheon City, Ppurigipeunnamu Museum displays the collections of Han Chang-gi, the founder of two renowned magazines in Korea. The collections range from the relics of the Bronze Age to those of modern times. Through the museum, visitors can catch a glimpse of the lifestyle and culture of Korea’s ancestors.

Uljin Geumgang Songi Mushroom Festival is a local landmark celebration that offers lots of local gourmet food and things to see and enjoy. The festival will take place at Wangpicheon Expo Park area. During the festival period, over 20 events are held including the opening ceremony, congratulatory performance, Uljin Geumgang Songi Mushroom food contest, Songi mushroom farmers’ market, Best Songi Mushroom Show, Songi Auction, and Free Songi Mushroom Sampling Event. Family-oriented hands-on experience programs include collecting Songi mushrooms, FAM tour to Geumgangsong pine trees, and harvesting yams. You may also sample traditional liquor, tea and food for free as part of the festival activities.
