Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Town street was built starting from late 70s, though the alley is considered to have had its best days in the 80s. In addition to being featured on popular DJ programs of the time, the period also marked the prime time of high school baseball where students would crowd the streets during days where Duksoo Commercial High School and Sunrin Commercial High School (now Sunrin Internet High School) faced one another.As the high school students aged they continued to visit the area reliving the period of their youth and continuing to indulge in the specialty tteokbokki. However, some claim the history of this alley began in the 1950s. The owner of Mabongnim Halmeoni Tteokbokki (마복림할머니떡볶이) restaurant says Tteokbokki was being sold as early as 1953 as the area used to be home to Donga Theater and she sold Tteokbokki, corn and potatoes to those visiting the theatre.At first, Tteokbokki was simply made with Gochujang (고추장), but as time went by, cooks decided the dish could be more than just a snack.  So, by adding ingredients like eggs, cellophane noodles, fish cakes, instant noodles and more recently squid, prawn and cheese makes the taste more delicious and turns the once snack into a full meal.


Seoul(Gangnam-gu) , Sinsadong・Garosu-gil

A number of A-list Hallyu stars, including Kim Tae-hee, Park Bo-gum and Park Han-byeol are frequent diners at Dure Guksu. Having been featured in numerous Korean TV shows, the most popular dishes on the menu include the signature beef noodle soup, bibim guksu (spicy cold noodles) and bibimbap (mixed rice bowl). During dinner service, gopchang jeongol (beef tripe stew) is often paired with soju (distilled rice liquor). As part of the Hangang Renaissance project, Nanji Hangang Park will be transformed into an eco-friendly theme park that should attract visitors from around the world. The Park will feature the Nanji Eco-Wetland, Nanji Campground and a marina. Also, there will be a specially designed area where visitors can enjoy extreme sports such as inline skating and BMX. A riverside swimming pool, the Water Plaza, and a riverside stage will be set up as well. Visitors will be able to relax and take a leisurely stroll around the park. The fully equipped Nanji Campground will open first in August 2009. The campsite is complete with all the items and facilities needed for camping, such as 24-hour-shower rooms, tents, and BBQ grills. This camping site is open to everyone.


Seoul(Jung-gu) , Myeongdong

The Currency Museum of Korea is the first museum in Korea to be dedicated solely to modern and ancient currencies. The museum (est. 1988) is operated by the Mint Corporation of Korea as part of its non-profit public services and is open to visitors free of charge with a view of increasing public knowledge of the nation’s currency. The museum features a total of 120,000 pieces including: coins currently in use both in Korea and overseas; coins from modern times (from the Late Joseon Dynasty until today); 80 types of commemorative coins; 88 types of ‘special money’; postage stamps, and other materials.Exhibition Room 1 presents a wide selection of coins from both ancient eras and modern times, with many of the coins dating back to the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties. Coins on display in this room include Geonwonjungbo (996), the first coin ever minted in Korea; Haedongwonbo (1097); and Sangpyeongtongbo, the most widely used coin during the Joseon Dynasty. Other displays include commemorative coins from past Olympics, special coins, charms, amulets and Lydian currency, the world’s first-ever alloy coin minted around 670 BC.Exhibition Room 2 (Exhibition of Bills) displays a wide variety of bills by era as well as information detailing the production process of a banknote (from the manufacturing of the paper used to the finished product). Exhibition Room 3 shows how authorities spot counterfeit money while Exhibition Room 4 has a wide selection of stamps, medals, and currencies from over 120 different countries around the world including Russia and North Korea.


Seoul(Jongno-gu)

The restaurant's signature dishes include a selection of items that do not include any of the 'five' forbidden roots (leeks, garlic, wild rocambole, Korean leeks, asafoetida) or artificial flavors. Pan-fried dough and fritters are tasty dishes dipped in potato starch and glutinous rice flour, instead of wheat flour. The restaurant uses organic vegetables delivered directly from the farm.

Seoul(Yeongdeungpo-gu) , Yeouido・Yeongdeungpo・Mapo

Owned by the parents of Lee Hi, Lamese Cadeau specializes in Korean seafood dishes. The K-pop star’s favorite food on the menu is the ganjang-gejang (soy sauce-marinated crabs) made with fresh crabs sourced from the Incheon sea shore. The ganjang-gejang meal is served with several side dishes (banchan), featuring locally-sourced conch, abalone, and seaweed. Upon request, the dishes can be delivered directly from the restaurant. As for the interior, a large poster of Lee Hi hangs by the entrance while autographs of Lee’s fellow artists from YG Entertainment―such as Bobby and Lee Soo-hyun―decorate the walls.
