The Return of the Heavenly Sword A leading cultural performance held by the Korea Tourism Organization at Gimhae International Airport Great fun while waiting for the plane’s departure! Event period: Every Friday in July and August Time of performance: 1:30 pm / 3:30 pm Venue: 2nd floor of the domestic flight terminal I believemany of you are going on a vacation these days with the coming of the vacation season. Many Koreans nowadays travel to a different country or to Jeju Island for their summer vacation. This is why airports are crowded.       I went to Gimhae International Airport last week. While there, I enjoyedCulture is Here!, a cultural event held by the Korea Tourism Organization ^^         Culture is Herewas held at Gimhae International Airport as a culture port event, aiming to provide enjoyment to airport users and local residents. It included an experiential event and a good performance. Most people arrive at the airport earlier than the departure time and wait. This cultural event is held to provide fun and enjoyment so that people who are waiting don’t get bored. It was a great experience for me.       The Return of the Heavenly Sword performance that was held at Gimhae International Airport is based on the motif, Cloud-Splitting Sword, which was used to guard the king during the Joseon Era. The Cloud-Splitting Sword was reborn as the Heavenly Sword, used to ensure safety at the airport. This leading performance of the Korea Tourism Organization is a martial arts performance.          The Return of the Heavenly Sword performance begins with a court dance.     Military officers from across the nation fight in front of the king. The best military officer is presented with the Heavenly Sword, which is used to promote safety in the skies and to protect passengers.      The brilliant martial arts performance by the military officers was interesting to watch. Above all, I believe this was a good performance because its uniquely Korean aspects enhanced understanding of Korea among Koreans as well as foreign visitors at Gimhae International Airport.         The long-anticipated martial arts fight began!             The military officers fought, aiming to be chosen as the best. The performance looked real as if it were an action movie!     The Heavenly Sword is presented to the best military officer who won the fight!    Another reason why this performance was good is that it reflected Gimhae International Airport’s determination to ensure safe flights by promoting safety in the skies and protecting passengers.         airport were more than happy to take pictures with the performance team of the Return of the Heavenly Sword, which is the Korea Airports Corporation’s leading performance. They looked like they were very much enjoying their experience of capturing memories even before their journeybegan ^^       An experiential event was held nearby that invited visitors to try on Joseon Dynasty clothing and accessories. Visitors wore traditional Korean clothing and took pictures with the performance team. The cultural program certainly included diverse elements.      Some visitors were so excited about taking pictures with the performance team that they left their baggage unattended!!     Culture is Here, a cultural event held by the Korea Airports Corporation, takes place at 12 airports across thenation, including Gimhae International Airport. The event provides enjoyment and special memories to airport users! We can now enjoy cultural experiences at airports and be free of boredom while waiting for departure~     After the Return of the Heavenly Sword, a leading performance of the Korea Airports Corporation, the performance team went to the first floor and welcomed people who arrived at the airport.     People enjoyed the event as they arrived :-)  They must have felt like they were given a warm reception.     A foreign visitor who just arrived took pictures of the performance team, and also with the team.     This unique cultural event provides airport users with a fun, enjoyable experience. It is extremely good in that it prevents airport users from becoming bored while waiting for departure and increases their understanding of Korean culture. I believe many people will go to airports as their first stop to their vacation’s destination. The area around the station is famous for insam (ginseng) it is easy to see ginseng sculptures and ginseng paintings to promote their specialty product in and around the station. Nearby tourist attractions include Punggi Ginseng Market, Sobaeksan Mountain and Buseoksa Temple, with many tourists arriving through Punggi Station.

Incheon Open Port Modern Architecture Exhibition Center

Incheon Open Port Modern Architecture Exhibition Center (Former Incheon Branch of Japan's 18th Bank) was built to control Korea's finance industry by Japan. It completed construction in 1890 and opened in October but records on the time when the work finished was unknown. In 1954, the building was used by Hanguk Heungeop Bank, and it is built in a single-layered with classical decorations of eclecticism style. The stone pillars at the entrance was delicately built and the roof was formed like Japanese roof tiles, exuding an exotic ambiance. The place has now transformed into an exhibition center that introduces the states of modern architecture in the areas of Incheon Open Port.

Baengnyeonsa Temple (Gapyeong) (백련사(가평))

Baengnyeonsa Temple is surrounded by mountains, as it is located off Yongmunsan and Myeongjisan Mountains. On each side of the temple, one can also find Unaksan Mountain as well as Cheonmasan Mountain. In addition, just behind the temple are Chungnyeong Mountain and Seorisan Mountain. This temple was built relatively recently, so there are little cultural treasures in places. However, as compared to the average temples in Korea, it is distinguished by its well-designed and refined architectures. The decorations in the temple are simple, with not too vibrant colors nor complicated designs so as to help in seeking peace and inspiration. The temple is also known for its hiking trails and beautiful scenery offered by the surrounding mountains.

Sookmyung Women's University Chung Young Yang Embroidery Museum (숙명여자대학교 정영양자수박물관 (서울))

In addition, the learning center also aims to become a learning center for scholarship in embroidery and other textile arts that can be appreciated by a wide audience.

Relics of Park Jesang (Chisanseowon Confucian Academy) (박제상 유적 (치산서원))

Relics of Park Jesang is also referred to as Chisanseowon Confucian Academy. Park Jesang, a descendent of Park Hyeokgeose, was severly tortured and then burned to death after rescuing two hostages taken by Japan, who were the brothers of King Nulji. The nearby temple and Mangbuseok have a folk tale regarding the story. His wife and two daughters died waiting for him and then his wife is said to have turned into Mangbuseok (faithful wife stone) in the eastern Chisullyeong Mountain in Manhwa-ri, Dudong-myeon. According to the legend, her spirit became a bird, and flew away to hide behind Euneulam (Bird Hidden Rock). After Park Jesang's couragous act, King Nulji gave him a loyal officers position as well as the role of godmother to his wife for her model behavior of wifely duty. Chisanseowon Confucian Academy keeps their ancestral tablets to honor royalty.

Jangsaengpo Whale Life Experience Museum

Jangsaengpo Whale Life Experience Museum is a whale aquarium, located inside Jangsaengpo Ocean Park. Various fresh water and salt water tropical fish, shark, and sea turtles also live at the aquarium. In a submarine tunnel, real dolphins can be seen and many diverse dolphin-related programs have been prepared. There is an animation regarding whales showing at the 4D movie theater and the hands-on zoo is raising reptiles and birds, attracting many children interested in touching, feeding and taking pictures of the animals. * Opening date: November 24, 2009

Choice Town is a family restaurant with a red and white exterior that resembles the cozy atmosphere of an old village. The 3-story restaurant is conveniently located near Jinha Beach. Its spacious interior is neatly organized, with yellow lights shining on the wooden furniture, creating a golden ambiance. Though many guests come with children during the summer to taste a slice of the delicious pizza near the beach, the oven spaghetti is also well worth a try.
