Using a long abandoned railway, the Yangpyeong Rail Bike offers a unique bike ride at speeds of 15km/h from Yongmun to Wondeok. This 3.2km journey passes along a gleaming river and tree covered mountains. Ieyoung Contemporary Art Museum is a personal collection of art that features valuable works centered on humanitarianism. Entering the eco-friendly exhibition space, you will be met by works of contemporary masters, ranging from sculptures to Oriental and Western paintings. In addition to exhibitions, the gallery also holds hands-on art programs for children.The gallery is home to the largest collection of works by Park Sang-Gwang, a patriotic painter. In 2004, to mark the 100th anniversary of Park’s birth, the gallery created a foundation with the dual purpose of studying Park and his works and indentifying undiscovered traditional artists in Korea. Ever since the establishment of the foundation, the gallery had increased in both collection size and quantity year after year.

The “Weekend Family FAM Tour” program opens from 10:00 to 17:00 on weekends and presents short films on astronomy and gives visitors a look at telescopes and other astrological equipment. The program is popular among elementary and middle school students from Seoul and Ilsan area.

Hwaseong Haenggung Saturday Performance

Taepyeongmu Initiation Hall

Gang Seonyeong, who devoted a lifetime to traditional dance, built the Taepyeongmu Initiation Hall (태평무 전수관) at her own expense in 1998 in her hometown of Anseong for the proper initiation into, and the preservation of traditional dance. A traditional dance performance is held every Saturday at the center for visitors and a traditional dance competition is held annually to preserve Korea’s traditional dance and to discover new talent. The center has a large performance hall (430m2) where up to 400 people can enjoy a performance; a museum displaying Taepyeongmu dance-related materials and folk articles from around the world; two practice rooms; and lodging facilities that can accommodate up to 70 individuals. * Taepyeongmu Dance (Korean Intangible Cultural Asset No. 92) Court dancing that embodies the continuing hope for the nation to exist in peace. The dancers are adorned in magnificent regal costumes and execute enthusiastic movements, alternating steps while in serene repose.
