Geek Live House is one of the most popular live clubs in the Hongdae (Hongik University) area, the home of clubs in Korea. It was opened by professional musicians in February 2003 as a venue that focuses on music performances as opposed to dance. The club has state-of-the-art stage, lighting, and audio equipment and is one of the best places in the area to enjoy performances by your favorite music professionals as well as see some of the up-and-coming talent. The club can house over 150 visitors (seats and standing room) and hosts 3-4 live performances each night. The Geek Live House is a lively place to experience the Korean independent band music scene and the club culture of the Hongdae (Hongik University) area.

Located in Samcheong-dong and established in 1981, Seongsim Yeogongwon is an art studio by Sim Yong-sik (Intangible Cultural Property designated by City of Seoul). He works on various traditional windows and doors with his students, promoting them in Korea and other countries. In hanok terminology, daemokjang means a basic frame of a house while somokjang refers to doors, windows, and so on that add something to the frame. Doors and windows with beautiful patterns are all over the place in Seongsim Arts & Crafts: doors that can hang against a wall, windows decorated with cherry blossoms, comb-patterned windows and so on.Visitors can also enjoy beautiful crafts in various exhibition events held in Seongsim Yegongwon. The place is open to the public free of charge. 


Incheon(Jung-gu)

Following extensive years in researching about kimchi and its scientific benefits, Samkim has succeeded in producing its own unique brand of kimchi that is unique in flavor and quality.Many dishes at the Samkim restaurant combine kimchi and pork belly ('samgyeopsal' in Korean) since kimchi researchers found that the two foods seem to complement each other perfectly (hence, the name was made combining the two words' first syllable). According to researchers’ findings, kimchi raises your metabolism rate slightly as you eat, reducing the amount of fat that the body takes in while eating the pork belly.To apply its kimchi findings, Samkim opened restaurants all across the country, starting with its flagship restaurant in Myeong-dong. Some of the most popular dishes among both foreign and local diners are the kimchi stew, kimchi pancake and rolled kimchi.


Seoul(Jung-gu) , Dongdaemun

Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Town street was built starting from late 70s, though the alley is considered to have had its best days in the 80s. In addition to being featured on popular DJ programs of the time, the period also marked the prime time of high school baseball where students would crowd the streets during days where Duksoo Commercial High School and Sunrin Commercial High School (now Sunrin Internet High School) faced one another.As the high school students aged they continued to visit the area reliving the period of their youth and continuing to indulge in the specialty tteokbokki. However, some claim the history of this alley began in the 1950s. The owner of Mabongnim Halmeoni Tteokbokki (마복림할머니떡볶이) restaurant says Tteokbokki was being sold as early as 1953 as the area used to be home to Donga Theater and she sold Tteokbokki, corn and potatoes to those visiting the theatre.At first, Tteokbokki was simply made with Gochujang (고추장), but as time went by, cooks decided the dish could be more than just a snack.  So, by adding ingredients like eggs, cellophane noodles, fish cakes, instant noodles and more recently squid, prawn and cheese makes the taste more delicious and turns the once snack into a full meal.


Seoul(Gwangjin-gu) , The Eastern Part of the Seoul

Imun Seolnongtang has been serving its hearty seolleongtang for nearly a hundred years since it first opened in 1907. Even its name has a long history: the word imun comes from Imun-gol, the now-obsolete name of the restaurant’s location, and seolnongtang, an old variation of the word seolleongtang. During the Japanese colonial rule, the restaurant’s regular customers included Gijeong Son, the marathon gold-medalist at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. To make the rich seolleongtang broth, beef meat and bones are simmered for more than 15 hours. Try putting rice and minced green onion in your seolleongtang for a warm and tasty experience. Kkakttugi (diced radish kimchi), provided as a side dish, is also delicious. TIP: Kkakttugi and kimchi are available through self-service. Pay for your meal in advance.
