Seoraksan National Park (NaeSeorak; Inner Seorak)
Gangwon-do(Inje-gun)

Also referred to as Seolsan and Seolbongsan, the mountain was named Seorak ('Seol' meaning 'snow' and 'Ak' meaning 'big mountain') because the snow would not melt for a long time keeping the rocks in a permanent state of white. In November 1965, the Seorak Mountain district was designated as a Natural Monument preservation area. Afterwards in December 1973, it was designated as a park preservation area, and in August 1982, as a Biosphere Preservation District by UNESCO.The park is spread across 4 cities and counties: Sokcho, Inje, Goseong and Yangyang. The highest peak is Daecheongbong; to the east is OeSeorak and to the west is NaeSeorak, which is divided again into North NaeSeorak and South NaeSeorak. North NaeSeorak is composed of Bukcheon, which flows to Ingyecheon and Baekdamcheon streams. There are numerous valleys in NaeSeorak. Follow the Baekdamcheon Valley where all the streams meet and you will reach Baekdamsa Temple, which is known for its beautiful scenery. Upstream there is Gayadong Valley and Suryeomdong Valley, and past Yeongsiam and Mangyeongdae there is Madeungryeong Ridge (1,327m) that leads to Seorakdong.Follow Suryeomdong Valley and you will reach Waryong and Ssangpok waterfalls . Further up is Bongjeongam (1,224m sea level). Once you arrive at Daecheong Peak you can view the magnificent mountain range. The sunrise viewed from here is spectacular and should not be missed. South NaeSeorak directs the valley from Oknyeotang area to Hangyeryeong. Daeseung Waterfall north of Jangsudae is the most beautiful site of NaeSeorak, which is 88m high. South of Yongdaeri Valley is the Twelve Fairy Bathing Spring, Oktang Falls, and Yongtang Falls, along with several other traditional relics.

Bastille Day

FKCCI Bastille Day event is one of the chamber’s biggest annual events. Bastille Day is the name given in English-speaking countries to the French National Day, which is celebrated on the 14th of July every year. In France, it is formally called La Fête Nationale (The National Celebration) and commonly le Quatorze Juillet. This cultural event represents the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison, which is seen as a symbol of the end of the constitutional monarchy that preceded the First Republic during the French Revolution. Festivities in France begin with a big parade held on the morning of July 14th on the Champs-Élysées avenue in Paris, which is attended by the president of france and broadcast on television. Other programs include a VIP garden party at the Elysée and the final bouquet of fireworks all around the Eiffel Tower. In celebration of this national holiday, the French Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Embassy of France in Korea organize an annual party. The result is a festival of over 500 people celebrating Bastille Day in a joyful and vibrant atmosphere. It is a day for people of all ages to come and enjoy France and French culture in Korea. Jangseogak Archives

Jangseogak (장서각) was established by Yi Wang-jik in 1918 as a library for Korean studies. Since its opening, the library has housed archives of Korean classics and modern works as well as the Jangseogak documents, which were transferred from the Cultural Asset Management Bureau (now Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea) in 1971.Jangseogak has a stack room, a space for collecting and arranging classical manuscripts and general books, a reading room, a room for references and genealogical records, a theses and periodicals room, an area for special documents, and rooms for filming, photocopying, and developing microfilms. It contains documents for scholastic research and education.Most notably, the Jangseogak holds the Uigwe (287 types 490 books, or Royal Protocols of the Joseon Dynasty, and Donguibogam (25 volumes 25 books/Treasure No. 1085-2) documents, which are both listed on the UNESCO Memory of the World register.
