Windy Hill

On the way to Haegeumgang Village, one may encounter the fishing village of Dojangpo. On the left side of the village is Dojangpo Wharf, from where one can take a tour ferry to Oedo Island and Haegeumgang River. Looking up from here, one can see a hill covered in grass and overlooking the sea. This is Windy Hill. A growing number visitors come to the place after it was used a filming site for popular Korean dramas such as Eve's Garden (2003, SBS) and Merry- Go-Round (2004, MBC). The name “Windy Hill” was given by those who visited the island and became a fan. Walking toward the hill along the wooden promenade from the wharf, one can see Hakdong Village from a distance.

Yongso Falls

Yongso Falls is a 6-meter high waterfall located in Yeongwol-eup Yeonha-ri. According to legend, the Yongso Falls was the dwelling place of a magical beast, the Imugi, before he transformed into a dragon and flew up into the heavens. Waters cascade from the falls and clear valley streams flow nearby, a refreshing experience for all who venture here. In the summer, the icy cold valley streams flow through verdant, leafy forests and in autumn the entire area is decked in crimson foliage. The striking natural beauty of Yongso Falls ensures that even these days it is a magical place to visit.

Underwater Tomb of King Munmu
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Gyeongju-si)

On the bus from Gyeongju to Bonggil-ri, the sight of the vast blue sea spread before your eyes will leave you breathless. As you gaze at the glittering blue sea, a small but particularly beautiful islet catches your eye. This little rocky islet is the Underwater Tomb of King Munmu (661-681 A.D.), who unified the three kingdoms and became the 30th ruler of the Silla Kingdom. The king gave specific instructions to be buried in the East Sea after his death so that he would become a dragon and protect Silla from Japanese intruders. The rocky island, about 200m in circumference, is divided by a cross-shaped waterway, forming a pool at the center, at the bottom of which is a granite 3.6 meters long, 2.9 meters wide and 0.9 meters thick. Legend has it that the remains of King Munmu’s cremated body are buried under this rock. Historians still debate whether the ashes of the King Munmu were scattered or stored in an urn and placed under the granite. The beauty of the landscape of the underwater tomb reaches its peak in autumn.

Surfyy Beach is a 1 kilometer-long surf designated beach, just north of Hajodae Beach in Yangyang. It's the first of its kind in Korea and has the most trainers and approximately 1,000 surfboards while also operating Surf School. Training is available for all different levels from beginners to advanced, and for those only looking to surf, board and wetsuits are available for rent. Surf yoga, longboard, snorkeling and other programs are also available. The beach has various zones including bean bag zone, hammock zone, chilling zone, and sunbed zone for visitors to enjoy. This mountain, 561 meters above sea level, has been called “The Alps of Chungcheongnam-do.” Mt. Chilgapsan area has many peaks, a thick forest and a beautiful valley. Each season has its own unique atmosphere. There are romantic cherry blossoms in spring, vivid green leaves in summer, autumn tints in fall and a snow-covered landscape in winter. Mountaineers visit all year round and can choose from seven courses.

Yeosu Expo Station

Yeosu Station began operations on December 25, 1930 as an ordinary station on the new railway connecting Gwangju and Yeosu. Later, the site was used as a venue for Yeosu World Expo, so the station was moved to Deokchung-dong and renamed as Yeosu Expo Station on October 1, 2011.
