Arko Art Center

Arko Art Gallery (formerly Marronnier Art Gallery) is located inside Marronnier park in Daehakno, where many youth flock. Daehakno is a place where many couples have their dates and is beloved by the artisans who use the area as a performance center. The Arko Art Gallery is situated in the partk. The Arko Art Gallrey was founded by the Korean Culture Promotion Department to flourish and enrich the Korean arts. Founded in 1979, when there were not many exhibition spaces for artists, it was a place of hope for many of them. With low general exhibit fees and relatively important self-planned exhibit openings, it became a place that contributed significantly to the development of Korean art.The exhibits taking place in the Arko Art Gallery can be divided into two. One is the General Exhibition and the other is the Planning Exhibition. Both of these exhibitions take place in the small gallery on the 1st floor. Since the exhibits are admitted through strict screening it is recommended that you just go and visit them. There is no admission fee. However, during August, repairs usually takes place. You should try to avoid visiting the gallery during that time or you should call and inquire about the opening times. On the 2nd floor there is a family café. There are six computers to use along with refreshments, so you might want to visit it as well. There are many other places to rest and drink along Daehakno street. While walking through Marronnier Park if there is a specific place you are interested in, just visit it. Wherever you visit, the place's unique atmosphere will be evident. During the Christmas season especially, you may not even find a vacant seat in the area. It is that crowded and popular.

First opened in June 2003, Pungwoldang is a cultural salon for classical music enthusiasts. It's filled with music albums and houses seminars, travel services, and a café. "Platform Place Hannam Branch opened in June 2014 near the main street of Itaewon in Yongsan-gu, Seoul as a specialty store selling living goods. Platform Place is a fashion select shop selling imported brands that are not officially distributed in Korea, among other brands, but each branch is individually designed to fit the regional characteristics and customers. Hannam Branch in particular carries living and daily goods, stationery, kitchenware, and various design products. Decorated with natural wood, the store creates a pleasant mood for shopping. Platform Place offers a wide range of products and designs. Many items, especially stationery like notebooks and ballpoint pens, and practical scissors and nail clippers have unusual, unique designs. The store also carries over 50 rare brands: Saint James, Neul, Norse Projects, Blue de Paname, Homecore, Rocky Mountain Featherbed, Club Petanque, Nanamika, Ordinary Fits, Cuisse de Grenouill, Veja, Bronte, etc. The select shop is easily accessible by public transportation due to its proximity to Hanganjin Station on Seoul Subway Line No. 6. Shoppers with cars can use paid public parking near the subway station."

Dodongseowon Confucian Academy
Daegu(Dalseong-gun)

Dongdo Confucian Academy is located in Dongdo-ri, Guji-myeon, Dalseong-gun and is one of the five major Confucian schools in Korea along with Byeongsanseowon, Oksanseowon, Sosuseowon and Dosanseowon Confucian Academies.The school was first established by Confucian scholars in 1568 at the eastern base of Biseulsan Mt., but was burnt down during the Japanese Invasion in 1592. In 1605, the school was reconstructed on its current site and was re-named ‘Borodong.’ In 1607, the name was changed to ‘Dongdo.’ ‘Dongdo’ means that the teachings (Do) of Sung Confucianism come from the East (Dong).Dongdoseowongandangsadangbujangwon, National Treasure No. 350, is part of the school and was designated Cultural Site No. 488 on Oct. 10th 2007. This unusually long name refers to the classroom, shrine, and walls of the Confuncian Academy in Dongdo.Must-see features of the school are the earthen wall, a hall named ‘Jungjeongdang,’ the Suwollu Pavilion and the 400-year-old ginkgo trees. The earthen wall has beautiful patterns in the shape of birds engraved in it and is the only earthen wall in the nation to be designated a national treasure.If you continue past the ginkgo trees outside you’ll see the Suwollu Pavilion. The picturesque view from the pavilion is breath-taking.At Jungjeongdang, there is a sculpture with four dragon heads, each holding either cintamani (a bead) or a fish in its mouth. This sculpture, which is called 'Samuljam,' symbolizes the teaching of Confucius telling us not to speak, act, or even listen if it’s not done in the right way.Dongdoseowon Confucian Academy contains the ancestral tablets of Kim Geong-pil and Hangang Jeong Gu. The school holds ancestral ceremonies on the day of Jungjeong every February and August.

Min's Club

The original name of the Mingadaheon (Min’s Club) was Minikduga (Minikdu’s Home), but it was renamed and remodeled into a fusion restaurant in 2001. Minikduga was designed by Gilryong Park (1898-1943), the pioneer of modern Korean architecture, in 1930. This house, which is located in Gyeongun-dong, is a historical building that helps to understand the changes in Korean architecture. The exterior of the building looks like a traditional Korean house while on the inside it is decorated in a totally modern style. The restaurant is decorated with Victorian furniture and a fireplace. Mingadaheon offers six kinds of Korean style-food and fusion meals for lunch and dinner, three kinds of green tea from Boseong-gun, and eight kinds of handmade rice cakes, Korean tea and Korean cookies are served with the set menu. There are 200 kinds of wine available to choose from.
