Incheon(Ongjin-gun)

Located about 5㎞ southeast of Daecheongdo Island, Socheongdo Island is a quiet, little island resided mainly by the tiny population of elderly people. The only two fishing villages on the island are located on the other side of the hill from the ferry port. Island History The tranquil Socheongdo Island has a rather sad history. Some days after the liberation from Japanese occupation, three mines floated onto the shores of the island, one of them exploding on landing. The islanders began dismantling the remaining two as a means of fuel. After successfully dismantling the first one, the last one exploded, killing 59 people and injuring 8. There is a monument on the pier front in the main village that memorializes the deceased from the tragic accident. Meanwhile, it is said that the majority of the current day elderly population arrived on Socheongdo Island during the Korean War (1950-53).


Jeollanam-do(Yeosu-si)

The Yeosu Passenger Terminal connects Yeosu Port in Gyo-dong, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do with nearby islands. The terminal opened on December 21, 1982 and underwent renovation in May 2007. The terminal can accommodate up to a thousand people in the waiting area and 87 cars in the parking lot.


Incheon(Yeonsu-gu)

Hilton Park is located near the Songdo International Business District near the gateway to Korea, Incheon, which is rapidly developing into an international distribution center, industrial information complex, and tourism and relaxation complex. Gyeonggi-do Yangpyeong’s Saneum Recreational Forest (산음자연휴양림) is located at the base of Danwol-myeon Saneum-ri Bongmisan Mountain. The forest is very lush and the valley boasts spectacular views. The list of trees includes pine, oak, and maple.Facilities include promenades and mountain trails. For lodging there is the Forest Cabin, forest Lodge, and camping grounds. Gyeongsangbuk-do(Sangju-si)

Sangju Museum was established to highlight the history of Sangju, and systematically preserve and manage the city's cultural heritage. It features several exhibitions inside the building, and Naksangdong Stone Tower, stone lanterns and other stone relics outside.


Jeollabuk-do(Gimje-si)

Gimje Horizon Festival, held from late September to early October every year since 1999, takes place at Byeokgolje Reservoir, which is the heart of the Honam rice bowl. The festival aims to show the importance of Korea’s farming culture, which is a foundation of the nation, with the theme of sky and land meeting at the horizon. The festival also aims to promote the regional image and economy. Many dynamic and active programs are available for festival-goers to participate in before the golden horizon.Byeokgolje, the largest irrigation facility in the world, built 1,700 years ago during Baekje (King Biryu, 330), is embraced by the city of Gimje. Thanks to Byeokgolje, the area of Gimje is the birth place of Korea’s rice farming and agricultural culture. During the Baekje period, it was called ‘Byeokgolgun’ (a village of rice) which came from the fact that this area was the first area to start rice farming.During the festival, domestic and overseas visitors can take part in various hands-on programs feeling Korean farming culture in Byeokgolje (Historic Site No. 111). Visitors of all ages can easily take part in these programs to educate, inspire, and enjoy with a theme of spacious plains to the horizon. Events include kite-flying, rice-farming, catching grasshoppers, Korea Straw and Plants handicraft, making rice over an open fire, and other activities to entertain visitors.


Gangwon-do(Donghae-si)

The Bukpyeong 5-Day Market takes place in Gumi-dong, Donghae-si each months on days ending in a 3 or an 8.The market began in Donghae-si around 1796 (King Jeongjo’s 20th year). Its original site was around Jeoncheon Stream but was moved to the mouth of the stream when the waterway altered. The market eventually settled down at its current site in 1932.


Daejeon(Yuseong-gu)

Jinjamhyanggyo Confucian School was established to enshrine and orient the ancestral tablet of excellent classical scholars in 1405 (the 5th year of King Taejong's reign) and to educate people. More detailed information is not available in the record. The remaining building is called Daeseongjeon, and the ancestral tablets are 5 Seong, Songju 6 hyeon, and Korean 18 hyeon. One instructor, who received a plot of land and slaves from the nation, taught 30 students during the Joseon period, but after the Gapo Reform, the educational function disappeared and Seokjeon, a religious ceremony, was served in summer and fall with offerings of incense on the first day of each month and at the half-moon instead. Daeseongjeon (Cheongju Daeseong High School (Former Main Building of Cheongju Commercial High School) is designated as Registered Cultural Heritage No. 6.
