Taejonggwan of the Royal Room [Korea Quality] / 왕의지밀 태종관 [한국관광 품질인증/Korea Quality]

The Royal Room is a hanok (traditional Korean house) hotel encapsulating Jeonju’s spirit as a city of tradition and art, and the exemplar of the state of Joseon. The hanok buildings are built next to one another on a plot spanning 19,840 m2 in Daeseong-dong, inspired by the unique elegance and understated extravagance of Joseon’s royal culture. 11 residential buildings are all named after the kings of the Joseon Dynasty. Taejonggwan is one of them, containing six rooms in total. Each room is a self-contained unit made up of bedrooms and restrooms, furnished with a combination of hanok’s unique charms and modern comfort. The view of the wooden exposed beams, paintings on the wall, and the view of nature beyond the window wall recreate the unique scenery of the hanok. All rooms are also equipped with modern comforts such as wireless Internet, TV, refrigerator, and air conditioning. The hotel has about 150 parking spots, a hanok cafe, and theConvention Center with spaces designed for large meetings and events. Samtaegeuk and Samjogo Restaurants are designated as COVID-19 Safe Restaurants by the city of Jeonju. The hotel is located about 7 min by car to Jeonju Hanok Village, and is close to other famous sights such as Jeondong Catholic Cathedral, Gyeonggijeon Shrine, and Jeonjuhyanggyo Local Confucian School, which make ideal half-day trip destinations.

Yeonggeumjeong (영금정)

Yeonggeumjeong refers to the area covering the shore by the Sokcho Lighthouse in Sokcho-si City. The name Yeonggeumjeong comes from a notion that the sound of waves hitting the rocks is comparable to the melody of geomungo (traditional stringed instrument with 6 strings). At the end of the 50m-long bridge built over a rocky peninsula is a pavilion offering a view of the East Sea.

'Jangbogo Hanok Pension is located in Songhae-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, which is regarded as a 'roofless museum' in Korea. Bugeun-ri, Hajeom-myeon, which is home to the UNESCO-listed Ganghwa Dolmen Sites, Ganghwa History Museum, and Gwanghwa Natural History Museum are a mere 5-minute ride from the pension, with Goryeosan Mountain (436m) -- well-known for wild azalea flowers -- and Baekryunsa Temple at the start of the mountain trail only 4km away. Among the pension buildings, the main and detached buildings are where the guests stay. There is a roofed well in the front yard, which is used as a place to relax all seasons. Both the main and detached guesthouse buildings have two rooms and a living room with a traditional Korean kitchen furnace. The guestroom in the main building also has an attic room. In addition, the pension has floor-heated room, swimming pool, and barbecue facilities on the opposite side of the main building. There is a shared bathroom outdoors in addition to the ones in the guestrooms in both the main and detached buildings.

Chuncheongo Lake is a man-made lake at the foot of Chuncheon Dam on the upper region of the Bukhan River. The area’s beautiful landscape and its easy accessibility make it a popular tourist destination and weekend getaway spot for Seoulites. The road along the top of the dam acts as a connecting expressway between Chuncheon and Hwacheon. The road continues past Uiam Lake, a fantastic fishing spot great for family visitors. Maeuntanggol (street of chili fish stew shops), formed around the Dam, is famous throughout Korea, offering the nation’s best chili fish stew, made from fresh catfish and mandarin fish. The Chuncheon Dam was built in Feb. 1965, blocking the flow of water from the Bukhan River into Paro Lake. The water level is not very consistent in Paroho Lake and fish may sometimes be scarce because of the lake’s narrow entry point. The area still attracts a large number of people because of its superb scenery and easy accessibility.

21th DongGang International Photo Festival 2023  The Magical Unknowns We cordially invite you to submit your creative work to the prestigious 21st DongGang International Photo Festival, taking place from July 21st to September 24th, 2023, in the picturesque Yeongwol, Korea. ▲ DongGang International Photo Festival 2022 Curiosity, the desire to explore the unknown, is an inherent human need. The unknown may encompass not only what is completely unfamiliar but also what is presently disregarded or avoided. Often, uncharted territories have had the most profound impact on human history, whether previously unknown, unimagined, or simply neglected. The unknown need not be solely enigmatic or sacred. Whatever it may be, it holds its own irreplaceable magic. Those who are receptive to the unknown have the privilege of unlocking its mysteries and experiencing its wonder. Venturing into the unknown can be an extremely liberating and world-changing experience. What stories and secrets do the countless mysteries of the world hold? How will these magnificent narratives unfold? The sheer thrill of the hidden secrets and magic within the seemingly mundane and trivial can be utterly exhilarating! Individuals and collectives are welcome to apply; individuals should submit between 8 - 12 photographs from a particular series or body of work. Selected 15 - 20 artists including ‘Artist of the year’ (individual artist or 1 team of winner) will benefit from: A-year-long exhibition that exposures at the DIPF Festival - inclusion in art magazine, any related press (long term festival representation and promotion on official website, publications, catalog that being seen by a substantial number of visual arts professionals and the media) where the works viewed by an international panel of influential experts in the field of photography * 'Artist of the year' - solo exhibition at DIPF (production - printing, framing or related presentation material will be provided) and eligible for travel and accommodation to attend the opening.   SUBMISSION GUIDELINES   1. GENERAL Objectives DongGang International Photo Festival aims to feature a quality selection of photography projects from around the world. It is comprised of a 3D photo zone on the first basement level, an indoor dolphin experience site on the first floor, and children’s aquarium that exhibits 100 species of fish local to the Jeju region on the second floor. Activity programs include feeding dolphins, experiencing being a dolphin trainer, dolphin swimming and snorkeling, diving with dolphins and prenatal education with dolphins. Marine Park participates in ocean animal transportation, as well as rescue and leading trainer business.
