Dorimsa Temple (도림사)
Jeollanam-do(Gokseong-gun)

Dorimsa was built during the Silla Period (57 B.C.-935 A.D.). It lies on Seongchul Peak at Mt. Dongak (approximately 4km to the west of Gokseong-eup). Monk Wonhyo built the temple in 660 during the 7th year of King Muyeol. It houses Bogwangjeon (a Buddhist sanctuary) and many buildings such as Eungjindang, Jijangjeon, Yaksajeon, Chilseonggak, and Yosachae. The temple possesses the precious Buddhist painting called Gwaebultaeng created in 1683 during the 9th year of King Sukjong. The mountain surrounding the temple is Mt. Dongak (literally Movement of Music) because the sound of music reverberated across the entire mountain when Monk Wonhyo embarked on building the temple. In front of the temple is a beautiful valley surrounded by many odd-shaped rocks. The area shows traces of visits by some of the best scholars, writers and painters since the Joseon Period (1392-1910). Water flowing deep from Mt. Dongak, which stretches over 735 meters in x_height, converges into Dorimsa Valley and forms a dazzling landscape amidst magnificent waterfalls and lush pine forest. Naturally, the temple and its vicinity attract many visitors year-round.

Seogwangsa Temple - Seosan

Seongwangsa Temple is located in the quiet downtown area of Eupnae-dong, Seosan in Chungcheongnam-do. Its convenient location makes it easily accessible from almost anywhere in town. The temple was built by Great Monk Daegyeong in 928 in the end of Silla period and the scholar Choi Chiwon came here to study while he was serving as the governor of Buseong-gun (currently Seosan) in 893. Originally, the temple was called Samseonam, or Three Hermitages, for there had been three hermitages in the upper, middle, and lower part of Mount Buchunsan. During the late Joseon Dynasty, the hermitages in the upper and middle part were closed and only the one at the bottom survived. In 1987, the name of the temple was changed to Seogwangsa. Mount Buchunsan is not very tall; however, its pine tree colonies and wild flowers offer a great hiking trail for the residents of Seosan. In wintertime, it offers a magnificent snow-covered landscape.

E-An Land
Chungcheongnam-do(Gongju-si)

E-An Land Forest was established in 1999 when 1,836 arbor species and 1,418 herb species were planted on a land area of 1,118 hectares. The forest features a tropical garden and various other exhibition gardens, as well as thematic spaces like the Haneul Maru. The forest was finally completed in 2006. Inside the arboretum, there are various things to see such as the herb village, parakeet exhibitions, a pine tree garden, and man-made cave. There is also a mini golf course and an outdoor swimming pool. Visitors can also use the onsite pensions and the auto camping site for accommodation, making the E-An Land Forest a great place for family and group visitors.

Chuncheonho Lake
Gangwon-do(Chuncheon-si)

Chuncheonho Lake was formed as a result of the construction of Chuncheon Dam in February 1965. The area around the dam has been developed into a recreational park with a camping ground, fishing spot, picnic areas, lookout sheds, bungalows, restaurants and other convenience facilities. The Chuncheon Circular Road lies along Uiamho Lake, and connects Chuncheon Dam with Uiam Dam. It has a fishing site, and a street lined with restaurants serving maeuntang (spicy fish stew). Its nearby attractions include Chuncheon Dam Valley, Satgatbong Mountain, and Jibdarigol Recreation Forest.

Jungmisan Recreational Forest (중미산자연휴양림)

Jungmisan Recreational Forest (중미산자연휴양림) unfolds at the end of a lovely drive along the famous Nongdachi-gogaegil road (the highest ridge road in the vicinity of Seoul). The forest boasts a striking landscape of thick groves of trees and a view overlooking Namhangang River. Some mornings, the forest’s log cabins are veiled by a thick fog, further adding to the beautiful natural ambience. Rising 834 meters above sea level, Jungmisan Mountain is a popular sunrise destination frequented by throngs of hikers every year. Thick forests of pine trees create a rooftop of branches from spring to fall. Being surrounded by tall mountains of Baegunsan, Yumyeongsan, and Yongmunsan, Mount Jungmisan feels like it is in the inner mountainous region of Gangwon-do, although it is close to Seoul. The forest has log cabins that can accommodate groups of 4, 7, or 16 people as well as campsites that seem to complement the surrounding natural environment. Visitors can enjoy a comfortable walk through the trees on a trail that winds through the heart of the forest. The recreational forest is located in Yangpyeong County, which is known as an environmentally-friendly town of suburban residences, vacation homes and inns. Nearby tourist attractions include the Mount Jungmisan Astronomical Observatory, Wild Flower Botanical Garden, the birth house of Lee Hang-ro, and Yongmunsa Temple.

Korea Country Club, located in Korea Golf & Art Village, is just 30-40 minutes away from the Gangnam area of Seoul. The club offers high-tech quality equipment and facilities including a night lighting system and 5-people electronic carts. With the recent addition of 9-hole course, the club is now better positioned to accommodate its customers with better services. The golf course at the club has few up-downs but there is large pond in the middle of the course where there is an island green with 4 holes on it, which give a certain degree of challenge that golfers may enjoy. Different plants and trees are planted near each hole creating a unique atmosphere and beauty. The club, which hosted a number of pro and amateur golf competitions, is putting its best effort to keep the courses in the best quality and condition.

Goheung Victoria Hotel

Victoria Hotel is nestled in a perfect area overlooking Balpo Beach. This makes the location perfect for getting some rest and relaxation between the beach and the forest. The crisp, clear air makes the moon seem brighter and more vivid at night. A surprising portion of guests are actually Russian scientists from the nearby Naro Space Center. The hotel owner's daughter-in-law, who speaks English, provides interpretation services for these Russian guests. When going out to the terrace, guests can hear the sound of waves crashing against the shore, and encounter other visitors out for a stroll along the path from the hotel to the beach. There is a total of 55 guestrooms, ranging from two-person rooms to 12-person rooms. Nearby attractions include the Naro Sace Center, Geumtapsa Temple, and a Bija tree (nutmeg tree) forest, all of which are worth a look.

Chilgok Patriots & Peace Memorial is a memorial museum dedicated to the soldiers who seized victory by holding up a fierce battle at Nakdonggang River's line of defense for 55 days in Chilgok during the Korean War. The museum consists of a spacious 4-story high building with 2 basement floors and an outdoor exhibition with a variety of artifacts.
