Hayeong is a newly-opened restaurant located on top of a hill at the entrance of the Jungmun Resort Complex in Jeju. The restaurant serves high-quality, roasted black pork (for which the island is famous). Not only can visitors expect some excellent cuisine representative of Jeju, but diners are also treated to a gorgeous view of the sea and the surrounding tourist attractions of the Jungmun Resort Complex. The hilltop view and spacious dining area make it an ideal place for group tourists, family gatherings, or individual tourists.
An authentic American burger joint along one of the main restaurant streets of Itaewon, ’Smokey Saloon’ (est. 2005) is decorated like an old pub from the American ‘Wild West.’ Visitors may be surprised, however, that the burger restaurant is not filled with the scent of cigarette smoke, but rather the heavenly aroma of quality beef. The restaurant is famous for serving up thick beef patties that are seasoned only with salt and pepper, preserving the juicy flavor of the meat. The representative burger, the ‘Smoky Burger’ (a thick patty with roasted bacon, sauce, and cheese) is a customer favorite.
Situated in Myeongryun-dong (Seoul) and established in 1984, Waryong Park is located near Malbawi, one of the best overlooks from which to see the city of Seoul. The park is close to natural attractions such as Samcheong Park, Changgyeong Park, and Bukaksan (Mt. Bukak).Although it was difficult to grow trees in the park (and other parts of the country) because of the shallowness of the soil, many citizens participated in the nationwide campaign to plant over 10 million trees across the country, transforming places like Waryong into lush areas filled with flowering plants.In the park, spring blooms forth in a colorful assortment of cherry trees, ume flowers, azaleas, and forsythias, making it a popular destination for family visitors. There are also a variety of excellent amenities: badminton courts, aerobic fields, fitness facilities, and pavilions, wonderful for exercise, leisurely walks, or simply taking a break.A famous hiking trail, running between the Seoul Fortress Wall and Samcheong Park, passes right through the park. Flanked by cherry blossoms, the trail attracts droves of nature lovers throughout the year and especially in spring, when the trees are in full bloom. The trail also passes by the Fortress Wall in Bukaksan.
Bonghwangdae is an ancient tomb of Silla located in the tomb cluster of Nodong-dong. The tomb is an impressive 82 meters in diameter and 22 meters in x_height, making it look more like a hill than a tomb due to its humongous size. Though said to be the tomb of a king, this has not been verified since the tomb has never been excavated.
The name “Bonghwang” (meaning “phoenix”) comes from the legend of Wanggeon and the geomancer. Wanggeon was waiting for the fall of the Silla Kingdom and decided to seek the help of a geomancer. The geomancer said that the kingdom of Silla was shaped like a ship and that this “ship” must sink in order for the kingdom to fall. After promising Wanggeon that he could sink the ship of Silla, the geomancer sought an audience with the king of Silla.
The geomancer told the king that the land of Silla resembled the shape of the Bonghwang (phoenix) and that the bird was about to fly away, which would bring about the ruin of the kingdom. The king, who had been worrying about domestic affairs, believed the geomancer and asked him for a solution. The geomancer told the king that if he made a hill that looked like an egg at the capital city, the “bird” wouldn’t fly away, but would stay to protect her egg and the kingdom. As a result, the king made of lot of ancient tombs, one of which was the sizable Bonghwangdae Tomb.
Legend has it that Silla truly was shaped like a ship, not a phoenix, and all these tombs symbolized the “overloading” of the ship, leading to the eventual ruin of the kingdom. After the fall of Silla, Wanggeon rose to power and later became the founder of the Goryeo Dynasty.

Geumgwanchong, located in Noseo-dong, Gyeongju, is a tomb from the Silla Kingdom (B.C. 57∼A.D. 935). It is one of the three tombs that belong to the Noseo-dong Tombs in downtown Gyeongju.Geumgwanchong Tomb is regarded as the tomb of a king before or after the reign of King Ji-Jeung during the early 6th century (500~514). It is not known exactly to whom this tomb belongs.It was found in September 1921, when the fief was chopped while a civilian was leveling the ground to widen his building land. The first relic found in this tomb was a gold crown, geumgwan, and so the tomb took its name. Ornaments such as gold belts, earings, bracelets, saddlers and crockery of the Three Kingdoms Era (when Goguryeo, Baekje and Silla were separated, later unified by Silla in 676 AD) were dug up from the tomb. There were numerous relics, with beaded relics alone numbering over 30,000.The original structure of Geumgwanchong was 13m high with a 50m diameter. The relics from this tomb were moved and are now preserved at the Gyeongju National Museum.
Odaesan National Park was designated as a national park in 1975. Its name was derived from the the following 5 plateaus: Manwoldae, Jangryeondae, Girindae, Sangsamdae and Jigongdae. Featuring the 1,563m high Birobong Peak, Odaesan spreads southwest with Mt. Sodaesan, Horyeongbong Peak and Mt. Sogyebangsan. The east side is connected with Sangwangbong Peak and Durobong Peak, which are over 1,000m high.The representative temple of Odaesan, Woljeongsa Temple, was named after the bright, full moon that rises above Manwoldae (Mt. Dongdaesan). At this temple the famous Octagon shaped 9-story pagoda (National Treasure No.48) and the Stone Seated Buddha Figure (Treasure No.139) is preserved. Also, Jeokmyeolbogung of Woljeongsa is where Monk Ja Jang preserved the Sakyamuni's noble relics. Inside Woljeongsa Temple, follow the fir trees 5 km east, and you will reach Sagoji where Yeonggamsa Temple stands.Odaesan has the largest natural woods of Korea. Many wild animals and plants are known to exist here. The area of Birobong Peak is famous for its Nuncheunkbaek and Yew tree forests. The royal azelea and Geumgang Chorong from Durobong Peak to Sangwangbong Peak are famous and there are animals such as boars, musk deer, turtledoves and colorful woodpeckers living here.
Football Faentasium is the first soccer-themed experience museum in Korea, founded by the Korea Football Association. The museum uses the lastest in IT for exciting displays, experiences, educational lessons, and more for a facility more like a theme park than a museum. The name comes from a mix of the words fan, fantasy, museum, and stadium.
