Gyeongsangnam-do(Namhae-gun)

Daraengi Village in Namhae is famous for terraced rice paddies on a steep hill on the outskirts of Mt. Seolheul reaching almost 500 meters. The rice paddies with 108 steps (consisting of stones and soil) are very picturesque and great for taking photographs. Located in the south, the village is balmy in winter, and spring greens (such as mugwort and spinach) sprout before any other place in Korea. Environment-friendly agriculture flourishes because the sea breeze prevents insect pests.This land of friendly people and fertile soil is home to Daraengi Rice Paddy Festival every spring. The festival offers a slew of interesting programs allowing visitors to experience traditional farming and learn cultural and natural heritage in Daraengi Village: Harrowing a Field, Straw Rope Ssireum (Korean Wrestling), Rice Planting, Running on Rice Paddies, Carrying a Wooden Carrier, and colorful performance events.


Gyeonggi-do(Goyang-si)

Gangwon-do(Gangneung-si)

The Gangneung Coffee Festival held its first event in 2009 as part of project in making Gangneung, a city of coffee. The festival celebrates the emerging coffee culture of Gangneung-si, which in recent years has welcomed in famous coffee chains and artisan coffee shops. The festival celebrates the scenic city’s past and present culture with a variety of coffee-related events such as exhibitions, photo exhibitions, coffee-making and coffee bean-roasting experience programs. Coffee entrepreneurs can also sign up for onsite seminars about the coffee industry.


Gangwon-do(Pyeongchang-gun)

Known as the last untouched region in Korea, Donggang River is the best rafting spot in Korea. Starting from Daegwallyeong and running through Jeongseon and Pyeonchang to Yeongwal, the river has numerous rafting courses that flow with an abundance of water and wind past scene after beautiful scene. Courses generally have steep cliffs on one side of the river and banks of pebbles or sand on the other. The most famous course is called ‘Eorayeon,’ a name which has the connotation of a pond with fish that come to the surface and make the river shine like silk. As Donggang’s representative course, the course is said to take rafters over the entirety of Donggang River. The course is so picturesque that many people forget to paddle and just float along and enjoy the scenery.


Gyeonggi-do(Namyangju-si) , Namyangju

Cheonmasan Mountain (천마산, 812m), located in the center of Namyangju City, is shaped like Dalma, a famous Buddhist monk, sitting with his shoulders back, and giving a grand and calm impression. The name Cheonma was given by King Taejo, the founder of the Joseon dynasty. It means a mountain that is high enough to touch the sky. The mountain is renowned for its beauty year-round, being snow-capped in winter; erupting in fresh verdure during spring; taking on a deep, lush green hue in summer and a myriad of colors in the fall. The mountain’s proximity to Seoul and its pristine spring waters that rush over the cliffs on the southwest face, make the mountain a popular destination. Mt. Cheonma is perfect for a day hike with its lush forests and natural springs where fresh healthy waters well up from the ground.

Gangwon-do(Donghae-si)

Located in the west entrance of Samhwasa Temple, Yongchu Mureung Valley Falls stretches for 2.5 ㎞ and has the shape of a pot with the water falls flowing down. The waters are divided into 3 different sizes, high, mid, and low, descending from the flowing stream Cheongoksan Mountain (1,403 m). The waters coming down from the falls meets the water from Bakdalgyegok Valley. The water in the valley and sandalwood seems as if it represents the harmony and the destiny found in the nature of Yin. These places form the climax of beauty of the Mureung Yongchu Valley.
