Hapcheon Hwangmaesan Royal Azalea Festival

The Hwangmaesan Royal Azalea Festival is held every year in May at Hwangmaesan County Park. The festival started in 1997 as an effort by local and overseas residents to preserve the azalea fields through hosting local cultural events. In 2012, the mountain was also included in CNN Travel's list of "50 Beautiful Places to Visit in Korea." Hwangmaesan is the filming site of several Korean movies such as Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War (태극기휘날리며), Welcome to Dongmakgol (웰컴투 동막골), A Story Of Bangja (방자전), Queen Seok Duk (선덕여왕), Horse Doctor (마의), and Bridal Mask (각시탈).

Oktoberfest

Held annually in October, German Village's Oktoberfest features exhibitions related to the history of the South Korean nurses and miners who went to work in Germany in the 1960's and 1970's. Those who moved back to Korea were instrumental in the establishment of German Village.Visitors can try German food and drinks such as beer and sausages, enjoy German cultural performances, or participate in beer-related games, and competitions.

Geojedo International Penguin Swimming Festival

At the Geojedo International Penguin Swimming Festival, paricipants jump into the icy cold waters for the swimming competition. Other festival offerings include a flatfish-catching contest, a penguin photo exhibition and many more.

Millennial Anniversary of the Tripitaka Koreana

‘Goryeo Daejanggyeong,’ also known as the Eighty-thousand Tripitaka or the Tripitaka Koreana, is a set of ancient Buddhist scripture woodblocks housed in Haeinsa Temple in Hapcheon-gun County or Gyeongsannam-do. Venerated as the assemblage of Korean philosophical culture, the Tripitaka is desginated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, and also was listed on the UNESCO Memory of the World register in June 2007. A myriad of special exhibitions and programs are scheduled to be held during the festival period in order to raise awareness of the meaning and value of the ancient woodcrafts, while sustaining the thousand-year-old wisdom of the Tripitaka in the new era.

Gimhae Buncheong Ceramics Festival

'Buncheongsagi (a grayish-blue-powdered celadon)' is a type of ceramic ware used during the 15th and 16th centuries, during the transition period from Cheongja (green celadon porcelain) to Baekja (white porcelain). This Korean-style ceramic ware has received high acclaim for the simplicity of its beauty. This festival takes place in October every year in Gimhae, Korea’s most famous ceramic village. This festival sells this special ceramic ware, such as tea cups, made in the traditional methods with discounts of up to 30 to 40%. Visitors can also watch the ceramicists making ‘Buncheongsagi’. Furthermore, there are other programs that allow you to make your own ceramics or even write and draw your own artistic imprints on ceramics.

Tongyeong International Music Festival

This healthy well-being festival helps to promote and distribute wild ginseng and herbs produced in Hamyang. .

Geoje Codfish Festival

Tourists travel from far and wide to visit the Geoje Codfish Festival and particularly to participate in the Codfish Direct Sales Marketplace, and the on-the-spot codfish auctions. As well as these famous events, the Geoje Codfish Festival presents a variety of performances and events including the Geoje specialty farmer’s market and the Geoje Codfish Quiz Competition, there will also be a food marketplace. Throughout the festival visitors will be able to buy codfish and salted fish at affordable prices.

Geoje Island Flower Festival

The Geoje Island Flower Festival will be held at the Geoje-si Agriculture Development Complex in Geoje-myeon, Geoje-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. The festival will take on a culture and art theme with autumn flowers and insect displays, including around 100 chrysanthemum sculptures and 150 varieties of chrysanthemum. During the festival, there will be a range of programs such as cultural performances, hands-on activities, markets, contests and special events.
