Muju Namdaecheon Stream Ice Festival is held in areas near Muju Namdaecheon Stream. Visitors can take part in many fun winter activities including fishing for trout, sledding and more.

In celebration of the Jeongwol Daeboreum holiday held during the largest full moon of the year, Nonsan Jeongwol Daeboreum Festival is held to host annual rituals and provide a place for families to spend time together. The festival’s activities also include juldarigi (tug of war) in Nonsan-si, jegichagi (Korean hacky sack), a kite-flying contest for families to paint the sky, writing a family motto, neolttwigi (Korean seesawing jumping), rolling a hoop, paengichigi (top spinning), and other folk game activities.

Korea celebrates the first full moon of each lunar calendar. On this day, numerous events are organized to ensure a good harvest, a good catch, and a long, healthy life. The Gangneung Full Moon Holiday is a true reenactment of the ancient full moon ritual. Based on the local folk culture, the event represents the true essence of full moon festivals.

Hambaeksan Mountain is the highest mountain on the Baekdudaegan Range that is accessible by car. Additionally, the area is a major coal reserve site and the industrial train Taebaek Line passes over the northern part of the mountain. Built by Monk Jajang Yulsa during the 5th year of the Great Queen Seondeok Period, Jeongamsa Temple is close to a natural habitat of Manchurian trout, designated as Natural Monument No. 73 and has a seven-story stone brick pagoda, designated as Natural Treasure No. 410. Roads from Manhangjae Hill and Dumundongjae Hill to the top of the mountain have picturesque views. A range of wild flowers bloom every season in the area, creating beautiful scenery. Gohan Hambaeksan Wildflower Festival takes place throughout Hambaeksan Mountain, Manhangjae Hill and Dumundongjae Hill.

Seongup Folk Village, the heart of Jeju Island's folk customs, hosts cultural art festival every October at Nammun Plaza. Silla's Wonderful Entertainment Culture, Customs and Historical Sites Resurrected as a Performance "Song in Praise of Giparang" is a 10-line folk ballad written by the monk Chungdamsa to praise the Hwarang during King Gyeongdeok’s reign. It is a ballad that aims to portray the proud spirit and character of Hwarang Gi-pa. "Song in Praise of Giparang" recreates the activities and customs of the Silla Dynasty including the five traditional banquet acts "Silla Ogi," full moon pagoda circling "Daeboreum Tapdori" and a traditional Buddhist ritual of throwing flowers on the road for Buddha "Sanhwa Gongdeok" that are recorded in Choi Chi-won's Chinese-styled poetry, Hansi. In addition, Gi-pa and Bo-guk's great love story that continues from the world of the living to the afterlife is beautifully recreated with ancient ruins from the time of Silla such as Donggung Palace, the palace of the crown prince of Silla, Wolji Pond, Bulguksa Temple, and the nine-story pagoda of Hwangnyongsa Temple as backgrounds. -Courtesy of Jeongdong Theater
