Damyang Bamboo Festival

Located within a forest of 2.4 kilometers of bamboo, this festival is full of activities celebrating the beauty and function of the bamboo plant. More active visitors can test their skills during some of the festival’s scheduled river sports, such as ‘Log Rafting’ and ‘Water Bicycling’. After working up an appetite, visitors can please their palate with some of Damyang’s famous cuisines and other world foods featured at the Cultural Experience Center. Goseong Lavender Festival

Every June, the areas around Eocheon-ri in Goseong-gun are covered with the purple lavender fields. During this season, many local and international visitors attend the annual Goseong Lavender Festival. This year, the festival will have a variety of programs, from exhibitions to performances.Some of these include a lavender photo exhibit and a photo contest at the farm and the village, as well as a photo gallery and a classical music concert, to name a few. The lucky draw event is something that should not be missed.

Saturday Premium Performance
Seoul(Seocho-gu) , Gangnam・Samseongdong(COEX)

‘Saturday Premium Performance’ takes place 50 times this year from January 7 through December 29. Seventeen different kinds of programs consisting of traditional music, dance, and singing performances will be performed throughout the year. Nine programs are suitable for people who have never experienced Korean traditional performing arts before. They consist of court music, solo performances, solo court music performances, traditional dance, folk dance, and play. These nine programs will be staged 38 times total.There will also be six masters’ programs comprised of performances of the maestros of Gugak (Korean traditional music), traditional dance, and play. Each program will be performed only once. Two intangible cultural asset programs also will be performed, consisting of Korean intangible cultural assets that have been added to the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List. They will be performed three times each.Whether you are new to Gugak or an avid lover of Gugak, the Saturday Premium Performance offers performances for everyone.

Yeosu Jinnam Geobukseon Ship Festival

The Yeosu Geobukseon Ship Festival, which takes place around Yi Sun-shin Square, provides an opportunity for locals and tourists to come together and enjoy a range of hands-on programs. In addition to the variety of traditional performances and ceremonies, main events include the Geobukseon Ship-drying event, a drawing contest, and a one-night, two-day historical tour program for teens. Yet another crowd-pleaser is the Yeosu International Fireworks Competition, a brilliant display held against the backdrop of the vast sea in front of Yi Sun-shin Square. Busan International Short Film Festival

The Busan International Short Film Festival started in the 1980s as the ‘Korea Short Film Festival,’ introducing a variety of domestic short films including 8mm films and independent movies produced by university students and citizens. In 2000, the festival was renamed the ‘Busan Asian Short Film Festival’ and expanded to include short movies from all across Asia, many of which included popular Asian films of the year. As time went on, the festival once again expanded its scope to include films from around the world and was renamed the ‘Busan International Short Film Festival’ in 2010. When it first started, the festival laid a foundation for the development of Korean movies. The festival continues to stir up support and interest in short films, acting as a catalyst for the Korean short films industry.

Ulsan Onggi Festival
