Gyeonggi-do(Namyangju-si) , Namyangju

Gwangneung (광릉) is located in Namyangju in Gyeonggi-do. This is the royal tomb of King Sejo (1417-1468, reign: 1455-1468) and Queen Jeonghui (1418-1483).The King and Queen are enshrined separately. The tomb on the left is King Sejo’s and the one on the right is Queen Jeonhui’s. A pavilion stands between the two tombs.King Sejo was the second son of King Sejong and Queen Soheon. When his nephew came to the throne following the death of King Munjong, he led a revolt, “Gyeyujeongnan (계유정난) Revolts" and in 1453 became the 7th ruler of the Joseon Dynasty.Queen Jeongui was the daughter of Yun Beon and became the Queen when King Sejo took the throne. She was the first figure in the history of the Joseon Dynasty who administered state affairs on behalf of a young king.Gwangneung is surrounded by forests where an abundance of wild plants grow. These well-managed forests have been designated as a National Arboretum by the Korean Forest Service. Gwangneung is also famous for being the habitat of the Korean redheaded woodpecker (Natural Monument No.11). With many evergreen trees such as pine trees and fir trees growing here, these forests are a good place for a scenic drive.

Gyeonggi-do(Bucheon-si) , Bucheon

The Woongjin Playdoci Snowdoci is Korea’s first and the world’s twelfth indoor ski resort. Its Indoor Ski Domes are consists of a main slope that is 270 meters long (40m wide), and a subsidiary slope that is 70 meters long (30m wide). The subsidiary slope has a Multi Lift for bobsled tubing and sledding. There are a variety of other slopes, including a ski & snowboard school slope (18m by 30m), a beginner’s and intermediate slope (20m by 150m), a quarter-pipe slope (18m by 120m), and many others, which can be enjoyed by all levels of skiers, from beginner to expert. Gyeonggi-do(Gwangju-si) , Namyangju

The Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum (경기도자박물관) in the Gonjiam special culture zone is the former site where ceramics were produced for the royal households of the Joseon Dynasty for 400 years. The museum specializes in the study of traditional Korean ceramics such as Joseon white porcelain or baekja. It also manages excavation projects, conducts research, and educates the public about the cultural aspects of traditional ceramics.The museum consists of two large exhibition rooms, a special exhibition room, a multi-purpose room, and other smaller rooms. Its auxiliary facilities include a large-scale outdoor sculpture park; kilns heated with firewood; a Korean-style garden; a tea ceremony performance room; and a shopping mall selling ceramics produced in Gwangju. The museum exhibits traditional ceramics from the Joseon Dynasty such as pure white porcelain, blue and white porcelain, white porcelain painted with under-glaze iron-brown, and punch'ong ware, that were all made throughout the Joseon Dynasty’s 500 years of history. The museum also displays works by modern artists, inheritors of Korea’s honorable ceramic tradition. And to fulfill its educational duties, the museum holds special exhibitions that focus on the culture and history of Korea’s traditional ceramics and offers visitors the opportunity to learn about and appreciate Korea’s traditional ceramics that are still being crafted, even today. 


Gyeonggi-do(Yeoju-si) , Yeoju

The Mok-A Museum, designated as intangible cultural asset No. 108, was established by Park Chan-su with the purpose of handing down traditional Buddhist art and traditional woodcraft techniques. The four-story museum contains an outdoor sculpture park.The exhibition displays that remain include Buddhist statues, paintings and sculptures, as well as the works of director Park Chan-su, including many Buddhist woodcrafts. The outdoor sculpture park displays Buddhist statues such as Mireuksamjondaebul, Birojanabul, Baeuigwaneum, and a three-story pagoda.


Gyeonggi-do(Seongnam-si) , Yongin

Jangseogak (장서각) was established by Yi Wang-jik in 1918 as a library for Korean studies. Since its opening, the library has housed archives of Korean classics and modern works as well as the Jangseogak documents, which were transferred from the Cultural Asset Management Bureau (now Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea) in 1971.Jangseogak has a stack room, a space for collecting and arranging classical manuscripts and general books, a reading room, a room for references and genealogical records, a theses and periodicals room, an area for special documents, and rooms for filming, photocopying, and developing microfilms. It contains documents for scholastic research and education.Most notably, the Jangseogak holds the Uigwe (287 types 490 books, or Royal Protocols of the Joseon Dynasty, and Donguibogam (25 volumes 25 books/Treasure No. 1085-2) documents, which are both listed on the UNESCO Memory of the World register. 


Gyeonggi-do(Gwangju-si) , Namyangju

Located in Nogobong Valley in Taehwasan Mountain in Gwangju-gun, Gyeonggi-do Province, Konjiam Resort is only an hour away by car from the Gangnam area in Seoul. Yeonmudae Post is located inside Suwon's Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Situated on a relatively high hill between Changryongmun (the east gate of the fortress) and Hwahongmun (a north floodgate), Yeonmudae is an excellent military observation post with sweeping views of the inside of the fortress. After the fortress was completed in 1796, Yeonmudae was used as a training ground for troops for over two centuries, where they learned fighting skills involving swords, spears and arrows.At Yeonmudae, visitors can learn archery while wearing traditional military attire; the fortress also offers a wide array of performances for visitors to appreciate traditional Korean culture. Yeomudae is included in the Suwon City Tour course. 


Gyeonggi-do(Gapyeong-gun) , Namyangju

Cheongpyeong Lake is an artificial lake that formed with the construction of Cheongpyeong Dam in the Bukhangang River. Surrounding mountains and lake landscapes blend together harmoniously creating breathtaking views and is fast becoming a choice destination in Korea.Near Cheongpyeong Lake there is an amusement park as well as numerous summer homes. The Ho-Am Art Museum is located in Yongin inside the grounds of the huge Everland Amusement Park, making it a popular destination for tourists.The museum displays over 15,000 works of art that come from all periods of Korea’s history and date all the way back to the pre-historic age. Around 100 of Korea’s national treasures are on display here, along with Buddhist art, calligraphy, folk paintings, and an excellent collection of ceramics. The exhibitions is spread over two floors and located in a building constructed in the traditional Hanok style.Ho-Am Art Museum also includes a re-creation of a Korean traditional garden, called the Hee Won Garden, which should not be missed. Stonewalls, pavilions, traditional Hanok buildings, and Buddhist statues are scattered amongst glorious flowers and reflected in the lotus pond. After exploring the museum, visitors can relax with a cup of tea in Hee Won Garden’s teahouse.
