Gwangju(Nam-gu)

The Owen Monument and Memorial Hall is located inside the Christian College of Nursing. The monument was erected in 1914 in memory of missionary Clement Owen who, together with Priest Bae Yoo-ji, was the first missionary to come to Jeollanam-do Province. The monument was built using the 4,200 dollars collected by Owen’s relatives in the USA after Owen died as a martyr in Gwangju.A Western-style building with a total surface area of 434 square meters (including the annex building), the monument is said to have been used as chapel and assembly room. Today, the building serves as the auditorium of the Christian College of Nursing.Clement Owen came to Yangnim-dong, Gwangju in the 1900s and served as a missionary and medical volunteer with his wife, who was a nurse, before dying of exhaustion and overwork in 1909. Owen had hoped to build a memorial hospital in honor of his grandfather, but died before his plan was materialized. The plaque hanging in the hall honors both men in English and Chinese reading, “In Memory of William L. and Clement C. Owen.”


Gangwon-do(Pyeongchang-gun)

Heungjeong Valley is about 5 kilometers away from the town of Bongpyeong-myeon in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do Province. The 5-kilometer long valley that starts at Heungjeongsan Mountain has beautiful surrounding landscape. A wide variety of freshwater fish like trout inhabit the clear waters of the valley. Heungjong Valley has become a famous attraction in the Bongpyeong area along with Bongsan Seojae, the shrine of the prominent neo-Confucian scholar Yulgok (1536-1584), and Palseokjeong, a site where eight rocks stand.


Gyeonggi-do(Goyang-si) , Ilsan

The Korean Traditional House Association is a non-profit organization, working towards promoting Korean traditional houses as the world's cultural asset by holding various hanok stay programs as well as doing field research for different architectural methods that are worth inheriting and preserving.


Gyeonggi-do(Yongin-si) , Yongin

Gyeonggi Provincial Museum was established for the purpose of inheriting and developing the history and traditional culture of Gyeonggi-do. It has actively engaged in various projects including historic research, relic excavation, management of the museum’s various collections, promotion of social education, and organization of cultural events that can help people understand the traditional culture of Gyeonggi-do better. The also museum promotes cultural exchange and cooperation by organizing events and programs that cater to the cultural needs of visitors. These include painting contests and cultural film screenings for university and elementary school students.


Seoul(Dongdaemun-gu) , Dongdaemun

The ingredients used for cooking of the home meals at OME Cooking Lab are bought from the Seoul Yangnyeong Market and Gyeongdong Traditional Market. It is a one-day cooking class whereby the participants will first be brought to tour the local markets mentioned to experience the local culture, interact with the vendors as they shop for the ingredients required for cooking, and later dine in a traditional style Korean house after cooking.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Gyeongju-si)

Housed in the Culinary School of Korea History and Culture in Gyeongju, the Laseonjae restaurant serves unique culinary delights that recreate the cuisine served in the royal courts of the Silla Kingdom. The school has a well-established reputation as a culinary institution that excels in preserving the taste and cooking styles of the past. Laseonjae was opened with the goal of promoting Isageum, the Silla-style course meal that the school developed after many years of research.The Isageum table consists of various dishes served in the royal court of Silla: the dishes are made of 9 rare, medicinal ingredients called gujinmi. The interior of Raseonjae is decorated mostly in gold, the color that defines the Silla Kingdom. Note the columns with lotus leaf patterns and other characteristics unique to banquet halls from the Silla royal court. The restaurant staff further portrays the splendor of the era by wearing traditional Shilla dress, seemingly transporting diners back in time while they enjoy an elegant and delicious meal experience.* Silla Isageum- Appetizer: good for the stomach and kidney- Main dish: good for the lung and liver- Dessert: good for the heart 


Seoul(Jongno-gu) , Insadong・Jongnon

Food and Culture Academy has been providing Korean cooking classes and culinary culture programs for international visitors since 2002. The classes are designed for visitors who simply wish to have a culinary experience, or avid cooks who wish to learn about Korean cuisine. Participants can choose from a wide range of hands-on cooking classes. The cooking classes are conducted in English and Japanese, and are taught by experienced teachers.With an added charge of 5,000 won, participants can experience wearing a hanbok (traditional Korean clothes) or visit a nearby traditional market (Tongin Market) to buy ingredients. The programs are offered from 9am to 6pm every day except for Sundays and a minimum of two participants is required.


Jeju-do(Seogwipo-si)

Sinnyang Beach is not yet a popular tourist attraction, leaving the fine-grained, sandy beach relatively untouched. Thanks to its quiet atmosphere, the beach gives visitors a calmer, more secluded beach experience than some of the larger beaches on Jeju.The 80 meters-wide, crescent-shaped beach stretches for a total length of 300m. Bordered by waters that are only an average of 1m deep, the beach gently slopes at a 5 degree angle. Known for its small waves, the beach is the perfect spot for children.Windsurfing is available nearby and popular tourist attractions such as Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) and Seopjikoji are located in the area.


Gangwon-do(Pyeongchang-gun)

Herbnara Farm, opened in 1994, has almost 100 kinds of herbs covering a total area of 12 k㎡. It consists of seven theme gardens, ponds and galleries including the Herb Garden, Children Garden, Fragrance Garden, and Water Garden. The uniquely decorated buildings and signs make visitors feel as if they are living in a fairy tale. Inside the farm, there are several spots for taking photos alongside the herbs; descriptions and effects are posted at each herb patch.A restaurant and cafeteria provide some dishes and drinks made of herbs cultivated on the farm. Bibimbap, steamed chicken with jeon, and the popular, herb salad with freshly picked flowers, are just some of the items on the menu. Free herbal tea is given to people who eat at the restaurant. There is also an exhibition room, which displays and sells herb related products such as herbal tea, herbal oil, herbal soap, etc.The farm can best be enjoyed from June to August and takes approximately one hour to tour the entire premises. Visitors can also enjoy the refreshing waters that run through the Heungjeong Valley at the entrance of the farm in the summer season.


Daejeon(Seo-gu)

The Natural Heritage Center was established to help the locals to learn about  the value and importance of natural heritages through exhibitions and education on the methodical study of natural heritages and national monuments. Fossils(i.e. dinosaurs' eggs and footprint), animal specimens (eagles, asiatic black bear), botanical specimens (i.e. jondo-ri pine tree) and many other natural heritages are exhibited. With guidance by professional researchers, youths can take the opportunity to learn more about natural heritages through hands-on activities, video education and many other experiential programs that are only provided by the Natural Heritage Center.   Through academic exchanges with the UNESCO, international organizations specializing in natural heritages ( Natural History Museum) and other research institution are in progress of developing more exhibitions on display. The center has an outdoor learning space where an eco pond, specimens of the dinosaurs' footprints and wild plants can be found. It is also home to various botanical specimens such as polyphylla of jeongipum pine tree including miseon namu (Abeliophyllum), Korean necklace pod (Echinosophora), insular abelia and more treasured species.
