Tongin Market is the place to go for traditional gireum tteok-bokki. The market is well-known as the best place in Korea for gireum tteok-bokki, and even foreign tourists come to have a taste. Gireum tteok-bokki is made by stir-frying rice cakes in oil and seasonings. There are two types of gireum tteok-bokki sold here. One kind is seasoned with just oil and soy sauce; the other is seasoned with spicy red pepper flakes and oil. Three of Tongshin Market’s gireum tteok-bokki eateries are particularly famous and popular. One such eatery is Original Grandmother's Gireum Tteok-Bokki. The shop has been featured on TV programs. Another is Hyoja-dong’s Old School Tteok-Bokki, once visited by John Kerry in 2014 while he was the U.S. Secretary of State.  

Oksang Dalbit is a popular chicken restaurant in Hongdae with garlic pepper chicken as its specialty. The fried chicken seasoned with garlic and pepper is sprinkled with vodka then set on fire for about 15 seconds. The original name of the Mingadaheon (Min’s Club) was Minikduga (Minikdu’s Home), but it was renamed and remodeled into a fusion restaurant in 2001. Minikduga was designed by Gilryong Park (1898-1943), the pioneer of modern Korean architecture, in 1930. This house, which is located in Gyeongun-dong, is a historical building that helps to understand the changes in Korean architecture. The exterior of the building looks like a traditional Korean house while on the inside it is decorated in a totally modern style. The restaurant is decorated with Victorian furniture and a fireplace. Mingadaheon offers six kinds of Korean style-food and fusion meals for lunch and dinner, three kinds of green tea from Boseong-gun, and eight kinds of handmade rice cakes, Korean tea and Korean cookies are served with the set menu. There are 200 kinds of wine available to choose from.

Mung beans are freshly ground into paste with authentic millstones. Savory bindaetteok is made with the freshly made mung bean paste. Mung bean bindaetteok and meat pancakes are the only 2 items on the menu. You can eat hot made bindaetteok at one of the tables or take it to go. Enjoy with a drink of makgeolli.                      

With four floors, Namsan Donboseong is the largest Chinese restaurant in Myeong-dong. It’s a great place for group dining since it has separate rooms in addition to the main hall. It serves a wide variety of course meals as well as simple lunch specials. - It’s located near Namsan Hiking Trail, Namdaemun Market, and Myeong-dong.

Mobum Tteok-bokki was established in 1976 and operations been handed down over 4 generations. Mobum is the originator of chadolbagi tteok-bokki (beef brisket and stir-fried rice cake).  Another unique aspect of Mobum’s tteok-bokki is that the tteok (rice cakes) are specially made and served in 30cm long lengths. Diners then cut the tteok to their desired eating size.  Mobum's representative dish is their chadolbagi tteok-bokki (beef brisket and stir-fried rice cake), but another well known menu item is their whole squid tteok-bokki. Additionally, diners can add garnishes to their tteok-bokki such as noodles, dumplings, and jumeok-bap (riceballs), and more!   

Jangwidong Yuseong Jip (장위동유성집) is located 200m away from Myeongdong Station, this restaurant specializes in beef sirloin grilled over charcoal. It is famous for its affordable prices and great tasting menu, which satisfies both locals and travelers. Spacious facilities (about 165 m²) and a comfortable atmosphere have also added to the establishment’s popularity. English service is available.

The restaurant is famous for spicy naengmyeon and has been around since 1983. This Korean dishes restaurant is located in Songpa-gu, Seoul. The most famous menu is cold buckwheat noodles.

Piyangkong Halmani serves dishes made with Korean bean ground in a traditional stone grinder by a grandmother from Pyeongyang.
