Damun (다문) is housed in several hanok (traditional Korean buildings) in the Hanok Village of Gyo-dong, Jeonju-si. In business at the same location for over four decades, Damun serves cuisine that is completely free of MSG and made using only fresh seasonal ingredients. Jeonju, also known as the 'flavorful city of Honam region' has a lot to offer when it comes to Korean traditional food as well as royal cuisines. 'Goong' is one restaurant that serves royal cuisine. Located in Jeonju Hanok Village, Goong serves rich, flavorful royal dishes using quality ingredients and natural seasoning from the Honam region. Jeollanam-do(Damyang-gun)

Damyang, located in Jeollanam-do, is not only famous for its bamboo trees, but is also for its tteokgalbi, or grilled short rib patties. Tteokgalbibonga, known for its signature tteokgalbi, has become quite famous in the area. With its exquisite resemblance to injeolmi (rice cakes coated with powdered soybeans) and the way it melts in your mouth, it’s no wonder Tteokgalbibonga attracts guests from as far as Japan. Tteokgalbi gets its name from its resemblance to rice cakes, or tteok. In addition to its texture, its savory marinade brings out the meaty flavor of tteokgalbi. Aside from their main dish, hanu (Korean beef) tteokgalbi, they also have dwaejigalbi, bulgogi, and galbi tang available, served with regular side dishes of a Korean set menu, even including a dessert. Tteokgalbibonga is often crowded with customers that you’ll likely have to wait in line if you visit for during the evening.


Jeollanam-do(Mokpo-si)

Yeongan Hoetjip is a raw fish restaurant serving a variety of fish dishes. The most popular dishes are raw croaker fish, spicy croaker fish stew, and live octopus, which is famous in the region.


Jeollanam-do(Haenam-gun)

Jeonju Sikdang is a noted restaurant for Haenam folk cuisine. It was designated by the Korean Traditional Culture Preservation Society after getting many awards, such as special culinary award, and others. The main items on the menu are pyogo-jeongol (mushroom hot pot) and sanchae-jeongsik (set menu with seasoned wild vegetables). The pyogo-jeongol's ingredients are all prepared in house using organic shitake mushrooms, beef, Manila clams, and other seafood and vegetables, giving it a clean and rich taste. The theme of the restaurant, “Enjoying natural dishes in the mountains,” fits perfectly with the taste of their pyogo (mushroom), which carries a excellent taste without the addition of any artificial seasoning. Naju Gomtang Hayanjip is home to Naju Gomtang (bone soup), operating for three generations. The savory taste from the soup is the famous feature of this traditional local restaurant. Naju Gomtang Hayanjip participated in the first to fourth Namdo Food Festival and was awarded excellence awards. Also, it was introduced on the TV program, "6 o'clock My Hometown."

Jeollanam-do(Suncheon-si)

Ilpummaeu, located in Suncheon-si, Jeollanam-do, is a restaurant specializing in beef dishes seasoned with maesil (plum; Japanese apricot). The Hanu (Korean beef) becomes more flavorful with the addition of maesil soybean paste and maesil red pepper paste. Their menu includes yangnyeom galbi (marinated beef ribs), galbisal (beef short ribs), saenggalbi (beef ribs), anchangsal (skirt steak) and more.
