Yeonnam-dong has emerged as the latest hot place in Seoul, a city that is constantly changing and creating new trends. Originally a normal neighborhood just like any other, the area recently saw an influx of young artists and designers who have placed their creative mark on this area. One by one, the maze-line collection of narrow alleyways and small streets began to fill up with unique shops, drawing in more and more visitors with each passing day. In particular, the area is extremely popular among college students, who often claim this as the trendiest area in all of Seoul. Healing walk in the park, Gyeongui Line Forest Park

 

 

 

Gyeongui Line Forest Park is a long stretch of land where the Gyeongui Line train ran before being moved underground. It is sometimes called “Yeontral Park,” being compared to New York’s Central Park. The park is often visited by locals in spring and fall, serving as a great natural space in the middle of the bustling city.

Filming site of “Descendants of the Sun,” B Plus M

 

 

B Plus M has become quite famous after being used as a filming site for the hit drama “Descendants of the Sun (2016).” Appearing as the home of the main female lead, Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye-kyo), this space is actually a showroom for a shop that sells eco-friendly wooden furniture.

Explore and take pictures in the Mural Alleyway

 

 

The area of Yeonnam-dong is threaded with many unusual alleyways, each with its own unique vibe. One of these streets is Yeonnam-dong Mural Alleyway. Known as a photo zone among youths in their 20’s and 30’s, the alleyway makes for great instagram shots to show off your trip.

Unique café resembling a garden in the forest, Ver’s Garden

 

 

Ver’s Garden is often visited by females, with its theme of a quiet and cozy garden within a lush forest. The scent of flowers fills the café, coming from both the fresh flowers and dried flowers decorating the tables and walls.

“Little Chinatown” in Seoul, Hwagyo Restaurant Street

 

 

Hwagyo Restaurant Street in Yeonnam-dong is frequently referred to as Seoul’s “Little Chinatown.” The area is dense with Chinese restaurants operated by Chinese immigrants, hwagyo, for fully authentic Chinese dishes.

Yeonnam-dong Flea Market, Dongjin Market

 

 

Dongjin Market is the only traditional market in the Yeonnam-dong neighborhood. It’s rather small compared with other markets, but it makes up for its size by drawing in business thanks to the many young artists who sell their unique, handmade items here.

One-of-a-kind book-themed street, Gyeongui Line Book Street

 

 

Gyeongui Line Book Street draws the eye even from outside, with an exterior designed like that of a train. Inside the booths, visitors can find countless books, divided by publishing company. Another charming aspect of the attraction is a miniature recreation of Seogang Station platform and various props, perfect for taking pictures.
