Located in Buam-dong in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Jeo Jip is a store specializing in chopsticks, a dining utensil commonly used not only in Korea, China, and Japan but also all over Asia and has long been made from hard materials such as metal, horn, and wood. Culturally, the shape and material of chopsticks are also known to vary depending on the status of the user, and more various materials were added to make interesting chopsticks in the modern times. Chopsticks are often used together with spoons. Chopstick specialty store Jeojip makes and sells chopsticks and spoons made of Korean traditional materials, patterns, and colors. Located atop the Buam-dong hill, the white-walled store displays neat arrays of chopsticks and spoons. Jeojip chopsticks are basically Korean lacquered types, but the designs, materials, lengths, and colors vary. Displayed on the right side of the store entrance is a gorgeous Korean traditional table set with chopsticks and spoons. Chopsticks are sold individually, but sets are more in demand. The store additionally sells spoon rests, cups, and plates, and gift wrapping is available.

The Itaewon Antique Furniture Street was formed in the 1960s when North American soliders stationed in Yongsan sold their furniture before returning back to the States. Over the years, the area has grown into a major furniture street where shoppers can find pieces from all over the world. Along with furniture, there is a large selection of wall clocks, tea sets, and interior design items that are not readily available elsewhere.

This eco-friendly organic restaurant directly sources its food ingredients from local producers and uses healthy, wholesome and MSG-free cooking techniques to produce fresh dishes, draft rice wine, homemade deserts and traditional tea. Bongeunsa Temple, located on Sudosan Mountain in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, offers a 2-day, 1-night temple stay program designed to provide urbanites with an opportunity to take a break from their busy routines and meditate on Buddhist teachings. Every Thursday, the temple also holds ‘Thursday Temple Life’ for foreign visitors only. The temple has a volunteer group to help and accommodate the needs of foreigners attending the program.


Seoul(Gangdong-gu) , The Eastern Part of the Seoul

Yangchulbuk Restaurant is a casual eatery specializing in Korean-style beef intestine barbecue. Its branch located in Seongnae-dong is owned by the parents of Park Shin-hye, a talented K-star who has been the lead in several K-dramas, including The Heirs, Doctor Crush, and Pinocchio. Portraits of the K-star and figurines of her beloved puppies are displayed inside the restaurant. Ingredients are sourced daily from local meat suppliers and side dishes (banchan), including the mukbap (chilled acorn jelly rice soup) are made in-house every day. In her free time Park Shin-hye is known to enjoy dining at the restaurant with her colleagues.

Barugongyang Gosang is a Buddhist restaurant located on the 2nd basement floor of Center One Avenue in Euljiro, Jung-gu, Seoul. The name ‘Barugongyang’ refers to the name of the meal served at temples, where the simple act of eating is also a part of general discipline or training practices. Alternative Space Loop (also known as the “Loop”) is a non-profit gallery that provides exhibition space and support programs for young and promising artists. In the late 1900s, many artists could not afford to pay for exhibition space in a gallery and struggled to pursue their passion for the arts. The idea of a “free alternative exhibition space” was born and as a result, the Loop was opened in Sangsu-dong in Feb, 1999. In 2005, the Loop was moved to Seogyo-dong, its current location.On the first floor and in the basement, the works of new artists are on display. On the 2nd floor, there is a small café where visitors can take a break and enjoy a cup of coffee, have discussions, or read one of the books provided.The Loop has been holdng exhibitions and performances more than ten times a year ever since its opening. The gallery engages in diverse international exchanges such as Tirana Biennale and in 2002, was invited to the Gwangju Biennale as an alternative art space.
