Gyeongsangnam-do(Changwon-si)

Gangwon-do's Jeongseon 5-Day Market is the place to go to if you would like to buy mountain herbs. The generosity of the market's citizens can be felt while exploring the grounds for its famous wild greens during spring, and medicinal herbs in the autumn.Jeongseon Market's specially featured product is the Goraengji, a vegetable that grows in mountainous regions or on plateaus at 500~700m above sea level. There are also many unique dishes in Gangwon-do that will catch your eye or whet your appetite. One delectable item is a dish made with buckwheat (or somtimes with corn flower) noodles, but be careful, as it is called Kotdeungchigi (hit the nose), because people would pull on the noodles too hard when eating and get hit in the nose. In order to experience the full atmosphere of the country market, you must try drinking a bowl of corn makgeolli (Korean wine), a specialty of Gangwon-do, and eating a bowl of Kotdeungchigi noodles while sitting on a mat.To get to the Jeongseon Market, take the Jeongseon 5-Day Market Train from Cheongnyangni Station, departing at 8:10am, for a 4hr ride to Jeongseon Station that arrives at around 12:00pm. Jeongseon Market is a 15min walk from Jeongseon Station.


Seoul(Jongno-gu) , Seoul City Hall・Gwanghwamun

Mille 21 (The Story of King Sejong Branch) is a souvenir shop on the underground level of Gwanghwamun Plaza that sells arts and crafts items, Hangeul (Korean alphabet) T-shirts, traditional gifts, and more. Aside from the retail section, the main facility is divided into two exhibition areas: ‘The Story of King Sejong the Great’ and ‘The Story of Admiral Yi Sunshin.' Visitors can also experience a number of hands-on programs including writing your name in traditional calligraphy, writing a postcard to Admiral Yi, experiencing traditional rifles, and more. Group tourists are welcomed.

Chungcheongnam-do(Nonsan-si)

The Ganggyeong Traditional Salted Fish Market is one of the largest markets of its kind in Korea. Shop owners in Ganggyeong are renowned for making undeniably great-tasting products and are skilled at distinguishing the good ones from the bad. Hence, the best salted fish products are known to be from Ganggyeong. The Yeomcheon-ri province of Ganggyeong is where merchants distribute enormous supplies of salted fish, such as salted shrimps and yellow corvinas, to the rest of the nation. The trade of salted shrimps from these regions makes up half the entire salted shrimp market in Korea. The Traditional Salted Fish Market becomes crowded from mid-June to the end of November, just before the Kimjang season (season for preparing kimchi for the winter). During this busy season, the market bustles with wholesalers, shop owners, and housewives in search of delicious salted fish. From early August to early December as many as 250 drums of salted fish are sold. Also, the Ganggyeong Traditional Salted Fish Festival which is held every year, is well worth a visit.

Jeollanam-do(Gurye-gun)

Gurye is the first famous national park in Jirisan Mountain and is home to clean water and spacious fields near Seomjingang River. The main products of this area include a variety of wild herbs, vegetables, sansuyu (cornus fruit) and plums from Jirisan Mountain and Baegunsan Mountain. Houses with cornus fruit trees are easily found in the district of Sandong-myeon, Gurye-gun and the whole village gets dyed yellow in the spring and red in the fall. The amount of sansuyu from the area accounts for nearly half Korea’s total. Also, chestnuts are common in Gurye Market as a complex of chestnut tree takes up 1,400 ㏊ of the land.


Gyeongsangnam-do(Changwon-si)

Daedong Duty Free, operated by Daedong Department Store, is the first downtown duty free store in Gyeongsangnam-do. It is located on the second floor of City Seven Mall and houses shops selling over 100 international brands, as well as a hotel, large mart, and a variety of other convenient facilities.


Gangwon-do(Donghae-si)

The Bukpyeong 5-Day Market takes place in Gumi-dong, Donghae-si each months on days ending in a 3 or an 8.The market began in Donghae-si around 1796 (King Jeongjo’s 20th year). Its original site was around Jeoncheon Stream but was moved to the mouth of the stream when the waterway altered. The market eventually settled down at its current site in 1932.


Gyeongsangnam-do(Changwon-si)
