Upon finishing his thousand-day prayers in Mount Gyeryongsan in June 1980, Monk Deoksan came down to the site of an old temple in Noseong-myeon, Hwagok-ri and built Jijangjeongsa. The upper part of the current Daeungjeon Hall had once been the main hall of the Jijangam Hermitage and was originally about 33 square meters. The Daeungjeon Hall was later expanded to its current size. In 1990, an auditorium hall was built to offer services to children and teenagers. The building is currently used to accommodate after-school classes for Seonjae Preschool. The temple is open for praying meditation and also has a charnel house. The temple and its followers are loyally devoted to the practice of Buddhism in its purest form.

・Information : Jijangjeongsa Temple Stay
The temple stay at Jijangjeongsa focuses on finding the true Buddha within (enlightenment) and includes tea meditation, the barugongyang meal, and 108 bows. The program is offered in a small temple in the countryside, where the air is filled with the smell of grass. Upon arrival, participants will first learn about temple etiquette and discipline before being initiated into the official program. The temple stay also includes countryside experience programs like picking strawberries, chestnuts, cherry tomatoes, and vegetable gardening and walking along the forest path of wild flowers.
Following the leadership of Monk Deoksan and his motto 'sharing and practice is the way to the nature of Buddha', Jijangjeongsa temple is dedicated to the learning and practice of the teachings of Buddha through a campaign of sharing. The temple is involved in various charity projects such as serving free noodles to local merchants and helping senior citizens who live alone. In addition to the temple stay program, the temple has various volunteer programs open for those interested in doing community service and putting the temple’s ideology into practice.
As an annual event, Jijangjeongsa Temple organizes special events for seniors and releases 400,000 or so fish into the wild as a symbol of goodwill. Its Sunday service is offered year round, regardless of weather.
