Soyangho Lake (소양호) is a man-made lake that was created when Soyang Dam, the biggest rock-filled dam in Asia, was built in 1973. The lake is a hotspot for marine tourism and the lakeside road is an important route that connects Chuncheon and Yanggu. You can travel overland for an hour to get to the dam or take the Kwaeryongho Boat (쾌룡호), a hovercraft that operates regularly on Soyang Lake, and get there in 30 minutes. The hovercraft travels by ejecting air against the surface below, sending up a spray of water on either side of the boat to the delight of passengers. Once you are in the valley, you can see fish farms floating among the islets. When the water level is high, you can travel on the lake all the way to Inje and Sinnam enjoying the beautiful scenery of Naeseorak. Both tourists and locals regularly make use of the ferry service.

Access

1. Take a bus from East Seoul Terminal to Yanggu. Thirteen rounds of bus services are provided everyday from 06:30 to 19:30 and the ride takes about 3 hours.
Or take a bus from Sangbong Bus Terminal to Yanggu. Seven rounds of bus services are provided everyday from 07:00 to 17:30 and the ride takes about 3 and a half hours.

2. Take a city bus from Yanggu Intercity Bus Terminal to the marina. The bus operates 13 times a day between 07:30 and 19:40 and the ride takes about 20 minutes.
Or take a city bus from Yanggu Intercity Bus Terminal to Suin-ri or Ungjin-ri. The bus operates 2 times a day between 07:00 and 17:30 and the ride takes about 30 to 40 minutes.

You can also take a taxi from Yanggu Intercity Bus Terminal to the marina, Suin-ri, or Ungjin-ri. It may take 15 to 35 minutes.
Or you can use a boat operating between Soyang Dam and Yanggu between 08:30 and 17:30. The 27 kilometer journey takes about 30 minutes.
