Tongin Market is the place to go for traditional gireum tteok-bokki. The market is well-known as the best place in Korea for gireum tteok-bokki, and even foreign tourists come to have a taste. Gireum tteok-bokki is made by stir-frying rice cakes in oil and seasonings. There are two types of gireum tteok-bokki sold here. One kind is seasoned with just oil and soy sauce; the other is seasoned with spicy red pepper flakes and oil. Three of Tongshin Market’s gireum tteok-bokki eateries are particularly famous and popular. One such eatery is Original Grandmother's Gireum Tteok-Bokki. The shop has been featured on TV programs. Another is Hyoja-dong’s Old School Tteok-Bokki, once visited by John Kerry in 2014 while he was the U.S. Secretary of State.  

Jangwidong Yuseong Jip (장위동유성집) is located 200m away from Myeongdong Station, this restaurant specializes in beef sirloin grilled over charcoal. It is famous for its affordable prices and great tasting menu, which satisfies both locals and travelers. Spacious facilities (about 165 m²) and a comfortable atmosphere have also added to the establishment’s popularity. English service is available.

Palpal Minmul Jangeo (also called as Palpal Freshwater Eel) is a 30-year old restaurant specializing in dishes made with eel. Many people come to the restaurant to enjoy the savory and delicate taste of freshwater eel marinated with the restaurant’s novelty sauce that has been developed for 30 years.

Cafe How serves a wide variety of food and beverages. It is, however, more than just an eatery; it is a cultural space filled with various natural elements. The first floor, featuring a hanok (Korean house) style yard, is designed with an Asian motif, while the second floor, with a terrace and a rooftop garden, is designed in a western style. The cafe also has furniture, paintings and accessories brought in from different countries around the world.

A popular attraction since the early 1970’s, this rather shabby and hard-to-spot restaurant has attracted many customers with its representative menu item, haemul kalguksu (seafood noodle soup). The soup is delicious and plenty enough for a hearty meal compared to its relatively low price. The noodles are chewy as they are freshly prepared every day and the clam-broth soup is full of flavor. The appearnce of this restaurant may seem old, but it's a recommended spot for a simple and delicous meal.

           

Located near Hwahongmun, one of Suwon’s eight wonders, Yeonpo Galbi (연포갈비) is the perfect place to stop by for a rest and to eat some authentic Suwon galbi while touring the area. With rustic logs on the outside and a bright, clean interior, the restaurant seeks to capture the spirit of the area and aesthetically complement nearby Hwahongmun. As far as the food, each assistant cook is assigned specific dishes as their concentration, assuring the preservation of each dish’s original taste. Oksang Dalbit is a popular chicken restaurant in Hongdae with garlic pepper chicken as its specialty. The fried chicken seasoned with garlic and pepper is sprinkled with vodka then set on fire for about 15 seconds.
